The addition of anchor chart paper, an organizer cart, and books about Native American myths has had a transformative impact on our 4th-grade classroom. The anchor chart paper is currently being used to create visual learning aids for students, helping them organize and retain information in all subjects. Our class currently has posters for multiplication strategies, when to capitalize letters, what point of view is, and how to paraphrase. During our study of Native American cultures of Montana, the class created a chart of the different tribes, their traditions, and stories, using the new books about Native American myths as a resource. They used this information to make dioramas of the life of a specific tribe before colonists.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, they were excited and curious. They eagerly dove into the stories, and their enthusiasm brought the myths to life, sparking engaging discussions about the lessons and messages behind each tale. The organizer cart has allowed for better management of classroom materials, creating a more organized and efficient space for learning. Moving forward, the students will use these resources to continue their exploration of Native American history. They will create their own myth-inspired stories and share them with the class, practicing writing skills and deepening their understanding of Native American cultures and storytelling traditions. These new tools have truly enriched the classroom experience, making learning more interactive and meaningful.","fullyFundedDate":1726452540566,"projectUrl":"project/fostering-cultural-awareness-and-effecti/8786874/","projectTitle":"Fostering Cultural Awareness and Effective Reading Instruction","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Fernandez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9751067"},{"teacherId":9743939,"projectId":8790871,"letterContent":"My second grade students have been so excited about the educational games we received through the support of the Donors Choose program. They have been enjoying getting to practice their math and reading skills in a way that makes learning fun. \r\nThe other item we received was a kit where students have to use trial and error to build a successful chain reaction. It has been great getting to observe the students build their critical thinking abilities as they test their creations and problem solve how to make the necessary adjustments. Students have figured out how to work as a team, supporting each other and listening to different ideas. I am so thankful to have this opportunity for them in my classroom. \r\n\r\nAnother benefit to my class receiving this generous donation is that I have been able to share the fun with other grades. Because the games are diverse enough to support different levels of learning, I have been able to share them with our first grade students as well. The teachers have incorporated a couple of the addition and subtraction games into their stations and the students have been very engaged in the learning process. Thank you so much for supporting so many students and classrooms with your benevolent donations.","fullyFundedDate":1726586598179,"projectUrl":"project/building-second-grade-foundational-skill/8790871/","projectTitle":"Building Second Grade Foundational Skills Through Hands On Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sauter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9743939"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_62375","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":276,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":40,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":92,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"11.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":75.7,"schoolId":62375,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lakeside Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lakeside Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/montana/somers-lakeside-school-district-29/lakeside-elementary-school/62375"}
