It is because of your donations that my middle school students are able to share materials without me worrying about them sharing germs as well. Using laminated materials makes it so that they are reusable rather than single use materials. The students love any sort of task cards, or materials, that they can pass around rather than just worksheets. Your generous donations enabled me to laminate many materials and then also allowed those materials to be cleaned in between each use. Once the students are finished with the materials, I use Lysol wipes to clean the materials and the area, as well. This gives me a peace of mind knowing that the materials are clean and ready for the next group of students. It also cuts back on the spread of germs from student to student.\r\nI love teaching and connecting with my students and it's donors like you that enables me to bring fun projects to life for them. It is school community supporters like yourselves that allow me to do so.\r\nThank you very much, and my students and I hope that your generosity comes back to you 10 times over.","fullyFundedDate":1757683061234,"projectUrl":"project/fresh-new-materials-for-back-to-school/9478987/","projectTitle":"Fresh New Materials for Back to School!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. DiSimone","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9634043"},{"teacherId":9272894,"projectId":9075088,"letterContent":"On behalf of my 6th grade students, THANK YOU for your generous contribution towards our two sets of Makey Makeys! I received the sets in the spring and was able to introduce the concepts to the students in my class at that time and was able to discuss the endless possibilities of what they can be used for. That introduction helped us this year so that we were able to \"hit the ground running\"! At the start of the 2025-2026 school year the students came into class and could barely contain their excitement after I assigned the project. The assignment included many different parts prior to utilizing the Makey Makey's. After the student completed the game part they proceeded to research and develop components. The first part of the assignment was to create a basic video game online using Scratch, a coding website. Then the students had to implement a game controller responsible for meeting people with various abilities to be able to use. The students were very creative in designing their prototypes and trying to imagine the different types of users they would be able to reach. The class was interested in learning about all the different types of abilities and conditions that people their own age have and learn about the challenges they children face daily. It was interesting to observe the students being empathetic to people that are different from them. I truly believe that the students never realized the challenges that others face and need modifications for day to day living. The students were also surprised that children the same age as them had to face such larger obstacles in life and the difficulties of just \"being different\". \r\n\r\nThe students also gained a background from the use of the Makey Makey's that led to their success with other projects and classes as well. Students gained a basic comprehension of circuitry, conductors and insulators, as well as a stronger foundation in problem-solving skills. \r\n\r\nIf it wasn't for the generosity of our donors, we would not have been able to have a way of using the Makey Makey kits for all of the students we teach. It was also interesting to see how the students physically handled the Makey Makey kits when they would use them. They would carefully pack up the kits at the end of each lesson appropriately. The did not need to be reminded to take special care of the kits because they were so appreciative of the donations made for us to get them. We are all looking forward to using the Makey Makey's throughout the year in as many projects as we can! Thank you again for the donation towards our kits and thank you for putting the spark back into middle schoolers eyes on learning new things. Definitely makes it more fun being an educator too! The students were absolutely in awe of all of the new, colorful supplies that they were given. Their faces brightened and their smiles grew larger when they saw all of the colorful highlighters, gel pens and sticky notes for their use. Whenever I ask them to closely read and annotate an article or short story, they groan, seeing it as a chore rather than as an exciting learning experience. Once they saw all of the new supplies that were available for them to use during close reading and annotating they were more than happy to dig right in. Having new supplies makes every child happy and I was so grateful to be able to share the donations and see how it affected them in such a positive way. My hope is that using these new supplies will encourage them to become better readers which was the goal for this project in the first place. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I cannot express how grateful I am to each and every one of you that donated to this project for my students. My wish for you is that your generosity is repaid tenfold in the future.","fullyFundedDate":1733258732298,"projectUrl":"project/good-readers-become-great-leaders/8580385/","projectTitle":"Good Readers Become Great Leaders!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. DiSimone","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9634043"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_23596","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1211,"numTeachers":113,"percentFrplEligible":30,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":51,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":32,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.8,"schoolId":23596,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/lakeland-central-school-district/lakeland-copper-beech-mid-school/23596"}
