They got even more excited when I told them that we were going to connect our reading to their robotics class by building robots that could survive in the wild. The only thing they weren't excited about was the writing they were going to have to complete. Though they are good readers, they still need practice in comprehension and deciphering.\r\n\r\nWe read during our gifted class period three times per week. Students will answer basic comprehension questions, and define new vocabulary. They will also draw pictures of how they visualize the characters and settings, and make predictions about what is going to happen in the next chapters. Finally, they will have writing prompts that have them write about personal experiences that relate to the story, explain what different quotes mean, and persuasive paragraphs.\r\n\r\nWe are starting the book next week.","fullyFundedDate":1735689922109,"projectUrl":"project/robots-in-nature-oh-my/8908233/","projectTitle":"Robots in Nature! One student said, \"Wait... this is for us?\" That moment reminded me how impactful your donation really is.\r\n\r\nThe new materials gave students the tools and confidence to explore ideas they hadn't touched before. It's been amazing watching them take ownership of their learning in a new way.\r\n\r\n With these resources, we're able to go deeper and make learning more interactive, hands-on, and meaningful.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in our classroom.
