With the money donated, I was able to purchase materials needed to implement Counting Collections in my classroom. Counting Collections is an activity where children are given objects to count. This is critical for building a strong foundation in number sense for first grade students. \r\n\r\nIt was very exciting to receive these materials and the children have been enjoying counting using our new manipulatives. They have been learning how to sort and make groups to count the objects. Children have also been practicing to count by 2's, 5's, and 10's which is another skill necessary for first grade students. Best of all they have been working with their peers, which makes learning so much more fun!\r\n\r\nThank you again for helping us grow and have fun with our learning!","fullyFundedDate":1739980206395,"projectUrl":"project/counting-collections/9118219/","projectTitle":"Counting Collections","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Madrigal","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9926142_orig.jpg?crop=576,576,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1739832184317","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9926142"},{"teacherId":4018998,"projectId":9023678,"letterContent":"My students and I would like to express our appreciation for the donation of headphones for our class. \r\nThe headphones have become an essential tool in our reading groups, enabling students to fully engage with a variety of educational platforms. With them, students can clearly hear and record their fluency passages in Seesaw, which supports their growth as confident, expressive readers. The headphones also allow students to access assignments in Imagine EspaƱol, an immersive language-learning app, as well as enjoy interactive stories and leveled texts in EPIC, our Clever library, and RAZ Kids. These tools promote independent reading and reinforce comprehension skills. Additionally, students use headphones during i-Ready math lessons, where audio instructions guide them through personalized learning paths. This seamless integration of technology into their daily routine supports differentiated instruction and fosters self-paced learning.\r\nThe most exciting aspect of this technology for our students is the ability to work independently while still feeling connected to engaging, interactive content. The immersive sound experience helps students stay focused and makes learning feel more like play. Some students, particularly those who are shy or hesitant to read aloud in front of peers, have shown remarkable progress using the headphones to record themselves and track their own fluency over time. One student in particular, who was previously reluctant to participate in group reading, now eagerly volunteers to record passages and has become noticeably more confident in both reading and speaking. The headphones have empowered all students, especially those who benefit from auditory learning, to take more ownership of their educational journey. \r\nThe students and I are incredibly thankful and deeply grateful for the generosity and support that made this possible. Your kindness has made a meaningful difference in our classroom, and it shows in the excitement and progress we see every day.","fullyFundedDate":1739546811975,"projectUrl":"project/listening-to-understand-empowers-our-fut/9023678/","projectTitle":"Listening to Understand Empowers Our Future Leaders","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Valencia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4018998_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1683567496936","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4018998"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_27698","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":600,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":48,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":91,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"35.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":90.2,"schoolId":27698,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ladera Palma Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ladera Palma Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/la-habra-city-school-district/ladera-palma-elementary-school/27698"}
