The putty has been great for the students needing that sensory input for their hands as well as emotional regulation. \r\nThe building magnetic blocks have been the biggest success with them. Some of the students have been struggling focusing on lessons but have been able to pay attention while using the magnetic blocks to build. I have one student who even uses them in one hand while writing his work with the other. They have been a wonderful tool to help students focus as well as to help them work together to create different structures and patterns. \r\nThe snacks have been great as well. They practiced taking turns, communicating with one another, and solving small problems as they played.\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, they were extremely excited. They were eager to explore and immediately began discussing how they would use the items. Their excitement and creativity were clear as they jumped right into play and stayed engaged for long periods of time.\r\nNext, students will continue using the dramatic play center to support our classroom lessons by changing themes and roles. I had a sixth grade student who had been on my radar for truancy for several years. She did not make it on the list because she missed a day the first week of school. She was very upset, so I sat down with her and explained how the perfect attendance works and what each student must do to be on the list. This student has only missed half of one day in the past six weeks! I was so impressed that I called her to my office to congratulate her and ask her what made the difference. She said she wants to be on the list to receive a treat every week! This is just one of many examples of how perfect attendance treats make a difference.\r\n\r\nEven though it seems like a small thing to receive a treat, it means so much to many students. Your generous donations make it possible to have weekly treats.....and, not just any treats. I am able to get things like chips, candy bars, fruit snacks and other treats the students really want. Thanks to your kindness, my first graders at Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe School now have a wonderful new collection of Native American books to explore, learn from, and enjoy.\r\n\r\nThese books have already made a profound difference in our classroom. Not only have they sparked a deeper love for reading, but they've also allowed my students to see their own stories, families, and traditions reflected in the pages they read. Representation matters deeply — and for many of my students, this is the first time they've seen characters, communities, and teachings that mirror their own lives. It's helping them build confidence as readers and pride in their identity.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the books during our daily read-aloud time, small group lessons, and independent reading practice. The stories have opened up meaningful conversations about heritage, respect, community, and the importance of preserving culture. It's been incredible to see my students make connections between the lessons in the books and their own experiences.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has created a classroom environment where literacy and culture grow hand in hand.
