Instead of sitting and listening for an entire class period, students were actively involved in their learning through investigations, models, observations, and problem-solving activities.\r\n\r\nThe materials also allowed me to provide a variety of learning experiences that reached different types of learners. Students could work independently or with partners while practicing important skills such as analyzing information, making observations, interpreting data, and communicating their understanding of scientific concepts. The students were excitied to see all the materials come to life with hands on learning!\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these supplies helped me turn Biology concepts into experiences students could see, touch, discuss, and apply. The stations increased student engagement and encouraged students to take ownership of their learning. I am grateful for the support that made these experiences possible. When the students saw it for the first time, they were so excited! They said they felt comfortable and proud. One student even said \"It is like a hotel!\". Our classroom before the makeover was so drab and uninspiring. Let me tell you, these kids are so inspired now. I have a student in a wheel chair and she loves to leave the wheel chair to sit on one of the couches. Before the makeover, she never got out of her wheel chair. One of our favorite things to do is group projects with hands on experiences. Now that we have the nesting tables, we are able to conduct science experiments and art projects as a whole group together. Most recently, we used the tables to work together to plant flowers. We were able to create stations at the nesting tables where they had plenty of room to prepare their pots and plant their seeds.\r\nWe have also been so thankful for the clear storage bins that help us stay organized. The students have been able to keep their activities in order as well as easily accessed. When we were designing the room, I made sure to use some of the funds for the students to pick out learning activities, so that they could be a part of the classroom transformation. They have been using them everyday! I will be sending a few pictures of the activities in use. We are very grateful and proud for what we have received.
