They were able to explore the different items, like the breathing ball, pinwheels and handheld mirrors to see how they work before incorporating them into their learning about emotions. \r\n\r\nWe have been using the materials in the classroom to teach the students how to regulate their emotions. When a student becomes frustrated or angry, we are encouraging them to use these materials in order to identify what they are feeling (with the mirrors) and well as having strategies to cope with that feeling (using the breathing ball or pinwheels). \r\n\r\nThese materials have been a huge help in the classroom, especially for this age of students. The materials really make these difficult concepts more concrete and real for the students. I am hopeful that by teaching the students these emotional regulation skills and strategies early, they will continue to use them as they grow and be successful!","fullyFundedDate":1735663357940,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-comfy-cozy-calming-corner/8719237/","projectTitle":"Creating a Comfy, Cozy Calming Corner","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Toth","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8991237"},{"teacherId":9548255,"projectId":8406574,"letterContent":"I cannot thank you enough for your generosity in donating to my classroom and my students. This was my first Donor's Choose project, and it was only because of you that I was able to consider it a success! I have 60 students in total, and every single one of them was beaming when they saw the donations come in. While I plan on incorporating the STEAM projects throughout the school year, my students have been begging to do them daily!\r\n\r\nThe airplane kit was excellent for connecting students to our Mystery Science lesson, as they got to experiment with the best way to design the wings of the plane to make it fly farther. Additionally, the boats are a great way to demonstrate our buoyancy lesson coming up. I've been gathering different ways to incorporate the baking soda projects into our lessons- specifically, creating our rockets to demonstrate the impact of density and pressure. \r\n\r\nWe will be working on simple and complex machines going forward. The robots that were donated are a perfect way to demonstrate how to design more and more complex machines. The students have been dying to see this donation most of all, so I can't wait to update with pictures!\r\n\r\nAgain, thank you so so very much.","fullyFundedDate":1725748802918,"projectUrl":"project/moving-full-steam-ahead/8406574/","projectTitle":"Moving Full STEAM Ahead","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Constantine","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9548255_orig.jpg?crop=1238,1238,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1717724814880","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9548255"},{"teacherId":2078176,"projectId":8451589,"letterContent":"I am grateful for your support in \"Let The Students Sparkle With Some Art Supplies.\" The materials that you have supplied gave me the ability to foster some new and exciting art projects. We have used wire to create beaded tree sculptures while discussing Conceptual Art. Our trees represent us as individuals and how we are all different and unique individuals. The student faces lit up while working on this project. The opportunity to work with a different art medium brought excitement. We also had some extra wire that I used for beaded sculptures with the younger grades discussing 3D and abstract artwork. We used watercolor to create underwater backgrounds with 3-D fish where we learned about coil and slab techniques. Students were able to understand the meaning of sculpture and how to create it in different ways. We are currently working on sketches of our balloon dogs inspired by Jeff Koons a contemporary pop artist who makes 3D sculptures of balloon animals. We will be using watercolor to fill in our dogs and metallic sharpies for the background. Thank you for your generosity. I cannot express how much these supplies mean to our school.","fullyFundedDate":1726254848197,"projectUrl":"project/let-the-students-sparkle-with-some-art-s/8451589/","projectTitle":"Let the Students Sparkle With Some Art Supplies!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tate","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2078176"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_82377","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":180,"numTeachers":23,"percentFrplEligible":17,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":84,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"7.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":70.8,"schoolId":82377,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Knowlton Township Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Knowlton Township Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/knowlton-township-school-district/knowlton-twp-elementary-school/82377"}
