We now have a variety of oral motor supports to have available in our \"Sensory Library\" for the students that I work with! For children that tend to chew on their shirts, we can now provide a clothing chewing alternative toy. For the children that need oral motor strengthening and desensitization, we can now provide different strength chew items as well as a Buzz Buddy to stimulate the jaw and cheeks for mobility and other oral skills. Finally, for children that just need extra oral motor sensory support, they can now wear an age appropriate necklace (Lego, dog tag, surf board, etc.) throughout their school environment and conveniently reach for it whenever necessary. \r\n One student I am working with has low muscle tone and drools. We are working on increasing oral awareness and sensory input to reduce drooling throughout the day. I have implemented use of the \"Buzz Buddy\" and when I first introduced it I allowed him to touch it and play with it using his hands and at times he would tolerate it on his face. Currently, he has increased his tolerance towards this device. Another student tends to put non-edible items into her mouth. Wearing the new \"Chewelry\" has provided her a convenient and safe alternative to wear in the classroom. \r\n Next to increase my \"Sensory Library\" to will be adding proprioceptive materials, which contribute to making a child feel safe, comforted and increase their attention span while learning. This has already been funded and I am so grateful. Our obstacle course is now enhanced and adds opportunities for balance, coordination, motor planning and proprioceptive and vestibular input. \r\n\r\nThe students were extremely excited to see the new equipment and it is used daily in our gym during gross motor time.
