Moving from fourth grade to transitional kindergarten (TK) has been an exciting adventure, but it also meant I needed some great books that are perfect for my little learners. Thanks to your generosity, we now have an amazing collection of books that my students absolutely adore!\r\n\r\nYou should see how much fun they have during our station rotations! They dive right into the stories, and our Morning Mingle time is bursting with excitement as they share their favorite books and the things they've learned. These books aren't just entertaining—they're also helping my students master important skills like letter recognition and phonics, making learning fun!\r\n\r\nWe've also received some fantastic science books that have really sparked my students' curiosity. They are totally fascinated by the world around them. Every day, they excitedly choose brand-new titles, and it warms my heart to see them develop such a love for reading and learning.\r\n\r\nWithout your generous help, I would have had to spend my own money to buy books, which wouldn't have been easy. Your support means the world to me and to my students! The joy these books have brought to our classroom is truly priceless, and they will continue to inspire many future classes. The cutter arrived in late September, and I quickly opened the box. I learned that my prior experience with a different cutter did not transfer as I expected. This is when I realized that I would need to extend the project and my original plan would need to switch. \r\n\r\nI tinkered with the laser cutter a couple of times before finally deciding to take it to our office of education to talk to the Maker Coordinator and see if he could provide some tips. We tinkered around with the cutter, and I successfully captured images to be lasered and used the blade to cut vinyl. I learned that the new challenge I faced is that I do not have a vacuum to suck up the smoke that the machine gives off when the laser is cutting. Living in an area where the smell of smoke can upset children, I decided to pivot the project to making something with vinyl. This uses the blade.\r\n\r\nI spoke with the first-grade teacher to see what we could make using vinyl. We decided to make T-shirts. Their class theme is \"O'fishily First Graders.\" We chose images of fish, and I cut as many as I could with the provided supplies. Children brought in shirts and created a design. It was thrilling watching them lay out each fish and hearing the pride in their voices when they showed each other what was created. \r\n\r\nNow, I am looking forward to two things: First, finding new ways to use the vinyl cutter. Second, order the attachment to capture smoke so we can use the laser. I loved the challenge and learning this project provided for me and the joy for my students.
