My students and I use the rug you provided every single day. It has truly become the heart of our classroom. We begin our mornings gathered together on the rug and end our day there as well. With such a large class, it has been a blessing to have a space where each child has their own spot. The rug has created a comfortable place for learning, sharing, playing, and even relaxing with a good book. During a recent class party, the students chose to watch a short movie, and they loved sitting next to their friends, enjoying the video together on our beautiful new carpet.\r\n\r\nThe excitement when the rug first arrived was unforgettable. The students were in the classroom when the janitor delivered it, all rolled up. I decided to keep it a surprise, so I didn't tell them what it was. They immediately began inferring what it could be! The next day, when they walked in and saw it unrolled, their eyes lit up with amazement. They couldn't believe how large it was and were thrilled that our entire class could finally sit together in one space. It's important to them that we can all be together, and this rug made that possible.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has shown my students the true power of kindness. We recently finished reading Mr. Tanen's Ties, a story about a principal who sold his collection of ties to raise money for a school playground. The students were able to connect this story with your act of giving. They were amazed that someone who doesn't even know them would be so kind and generous. It made them feel incredibly special and valued.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next classroom project will be a hands-on learning experience about landforms. The students will research different types of landforms and then create their own salt dough islands featuring at least five landforms. They will write fictional narratives describing their adventures on their islands while incorporating facts they've learned. To conclude, they will present their creations and stories to the class. The rug will continue to be our hub for sharing ideas, collaborating, and celebrating their hard work.\r\n\r\nThank you for making such a meaningful impact in our classroom. Your kindness has brought joy, comfort, and inspiration to my students. We are so grateful for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1729182730169,"projectUrl":"project/help-create-a-welcoming-and-focused-lear/8554530/","projectTitle":"Help Create a Welcoming and Focused Learning Space for Students!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Reed","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5325918_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1532622901149","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-reed2"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_57437","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":489,"numTeachers":35,"percentFrplEligible":78,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":43,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":33,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":56.3,"schoolId":57437,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Kensler Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Kensler Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kansas/wichita-public-schools/kensler-elementary-school/57437"}
