My new calming area is great and the students love it too! My students struggle with regulating their emotions and can get overwhelmed. A calming place to breathe and reset helps them immensely. I have encouraged them to find a calming corner in their own homes and to fill it with similar items. The puzzles are the most popular item and they love to work on one after their independent work. My students are also very grateful for the generous gift we received.","fullyFundedDate":1729713960390,"projectUrl":"project/calming-corner-safe-space-and-activities/8863410/","projectTitle":"Calming Corner Safe Space and Activities!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Reinoso","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9281592"},{"teacherId":8804227,"projectId":8818424,"letterContent":"My students and I are so appreciative for your support of their creativity & mental health. The students were so excited to be able to use art materials we usually have very limited access to, and to create self-directed art pieces that challenged & delighted them.\r\nIn our classroom we focus on building technical & conceptual art skills, so this project has been a fun departure in which they were able to just explore what the medium could do, and how to use it more broadly. All students were completely engaged and had a lot of fun in the process.\r\nI feel that this project helped students loosen up a bit in their artmaking, and to see it as a tool to help them manage their emotional health in a truly healthy way. They noticed right away when I put the new posters on the wall of our Constitution and events in early American history. This enhances the content in a simple, visual way, and I find they are referencing them often. \r\nA variety of the materials supplied were aimed at mental, social and emotional well being. The stress balls and sensory toys are calming. Not a day goes by they don't use them, and of course were very curious as to the new items in our room! The motivational post it notes and stickers are fun for the students and brings a smile to their faces. The students love the new rug and table to store our new materials too. We have an array of supplies such as coloring books/markers/ reading guides, chair bands, table baskets and paper organizers all for the students needs. \r\nThank you for this amazing opportunity to bring content to life, a sense of calm with the sensory items and supplies all aimed at creating a welcoming and safe learning environment. The safety goggles were a huge hit with my chemistry students, especially those who wear eyeglasses. These goggles were comfortable and fit easily over their glasses, unlike the smaller plastic ones I used before. This improvement has helped create a safer environment when working with caustic chemicals.\r\nThe students also really appreciated the Expo markers. They often use them during collaborative activities, especially when I conduct formative reviews. The variety of colors makes the learning experience more interactive and fun, allowing students to actively engage in their learning. This is particularly important in chemistry, a skill-based subject where students need to practice rather than just observe.\r\nMany of my students are high achievers involved in extracurricular activities, from sports to music to clubs. They often spend long hours at school and don't get home until after dinner. The snacks have been a welcome boost, helping them power through their day until they can eat a full meal.\r\nWe are all incredibly grateful to the donors whose generosity made these gifts possible for our classroom. Many of my students recognize this kindness and continue to pay it forward by embodying the same generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1729187894268,"projectUrl":"project/mental-health/8868719/","projectTitle":"Mental Health","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Connelly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9799317"},{"teacherId":9785264,"projectId":8842904,"letterContent":"I was so excited to have my project \"\"Seat\" Me Up for Success with Mental Health & Learning\" project funded by gracious and generous donors. Thank you very much for the set of 4 ergonomic active seating ball chairs, stress balls and Coping Skills and Emotional Regulation for Teens Book. When the supplies arrived in my room, the boxes were large and impressive. \r\nMy students couldn't wait to see what we received. The ergo balls required inflation, assembly and sitting for 24 hours to set so it was hard to see them and not use them....but we waited patiently. The book has great strategies for conquering anxiety, mastering emotions and building self-confidence. We refer to it often and talk about the ideas expressed most days. The stress balls are colorful, soft, squishy and a great fidget accessory. They are located in a bin with some other fidget toys but the balls always get selected first. They are accessible to anyone, anytime. My students gravitate right to the bin upon entering the room. One of my students will often pick up a color that makes her feel happy, express that and then say \"Ahhhh, I needed that\" as she squeezes the ball. The ergo balls are the seating of choice and allow students to get sensory input fostering improved participation in the lesson. They promote improved posture and upright seating. I seldom redirect students' focus. Teachers stop in my room to try them. Some statements my student have made about the ergo balls include: \"You gotta let everyone try this!\"; \"I Love it.\"; \"I'm never going to sit in the regular chair again.\" When asked, \"Would you like a regular chair, the response was \"I'm good thank you :)\" \r\nYour thoughtfulness and kindness is truly appreciated!
