When my students first walked in and saw the new library carpet, flexible seating, puzzles, and organization tools, they were beyond excited. They couldn't wait to try everything out, and it was so special seeing them immediately settle into the cozy spaces with books. One moment that really stood out was during indoor recess when a group of students worked together to finish a puzzle. They encouraged each other, shared ideas, and were so proud to show me when they completed it. It was such a great reminder of how these resources are helping build not only academic skills, but also confidence, teamwork, and friendships.\r\n\r\nWe use these new resources every single day, and they've already helped create a calmer, more welcoming classroom environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and sharing their ideas. When the students first saw the variety of fidgets, ten-frame poppers, and spiky rings, their excitement was palpable. They were especially drawn to the Mindful Maze Boards, which have become a cornerstone of our daily self-regulation strategies. One particularly impactful moment occurred when a student, feeling overwhelmed by a writing assignment, independently used a sensory strip on their desk to ground themselves. This small moment of self-regulation allowed them to refocus and complete their work with confidence rather than anxiety.\r\nBeyond the sensory benefits, organizational supplies like the thermal laminator, sheet protectors, and desktop file organizers have streamlined our daily routines. By having materials laminated and ready to use, we spend less time on transitions and more time on active learning. We have already begun laminating anchor charts for Math and ELA to ensure they last all year. Additionally, the sentence-building cards and handwriting stamps have become daily staples, providing clear, tactile structures for our literacy blocks. These resources ensure our classroom is a well-managed space where every student feels they have the tools to succeed.\r\nOur next steps involve integrating these tools into our upcoming Social Studies unit. We will use the laminator and Mood Flip Book to help students create and preserve posters illustrating their life stories and the diverse emotions shared by their families. This project has empowered 22 students to take ownership of their learning and emotional well-being, proving that with the right tools, focus, and growth are always within reach.","fullyFundedDate":1760376777963,"projectUrl":"project/a-well-managed-engaging-classroom-full/9822540/","projectTitle":"A Well-Managed, Engaging Classroom: Full of Focus, Organization, and Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. J","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9917019_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1740505593748","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/cjorgensen"},{"teacherId":9664849,"projectId":9869880,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your contributions to our grade 1 classroom. \r\nThe students were very excited when they saw all the new materials they received from this project. Once the mailbox and bookshelf were shipped my family helped me to assemble them right away. The students were happy to have a new clean mailbox that was more appropriate for their height. The book shelf was very helpful for organizing my leveled books and providing extra counter space for the students supplies. The magnetic ten-frames have been a game changer for math instruction. It saves so much time for the students and I. We no longer have to draw ten-frames from scratch and take the time to erase them. I have also been using the plastic bowls to pass out math tools to students. Before this we only had plastic cups. I have also been giving the pencil grips to many of my students. I have noticed improvement in their handwriting and writing speed. I think their favorite gift was the pencil sharpener. They find it so fascinating, which is adorable.
