We love using hands on manipulatives to gather data and display our mathematics!\r\n\r\nWe greatly appreciate the rulers and tape measures to learn to accurately measure and gather our own data and also draw our bar graphs, histograms and scatter plots by hand. We use the TI graphing calculators to analyze, display and graph our data and interpret our results. We have a TI 84 calculator in the classroom for each student to use but these may not be taken out of the room. These extra TI 84s allow students who cannot afford to purchase one the opportunity to sign them out to do their homework in their study hall. \r\n\r\nWe have also enjoyed using the magnetic graph board to graph functions with a partner to display to the class. This is a great way to get students up and moving while learning! \r\n\r\nWe greatly appreciate your generosity! We use our TI-84 calculators to solve a variety of problems. \r\n\r\nWe use them for so many functions and in each of my math classes. One of our favorite ways to use them is to analyze our statistics data. Students use the TI-84s to enter, graph, and compare data sets, analyze and interpret the findings. \r\n\r\nWe have a classroom calculator for each student but these calculators may not leave the classroom. Your donation made it possible for us to have calculators (for students who cannot afford to purchase their own calculator) to sign one out to take to their study hall to do their homework. Watching them study the different covers trying to decide what to read has also brought me joy, as they're searching for the right book to hook them on reading. They might still be judging books by their covers, but graphics provide the hook that gets them into reading the book and will eventually lead to them following specific authors instead.\r\n\r\nStudents are even conversing with their friends and helping others choose an independent reading book based on their personal preferences, which eases them into dialogue about the content of the story. Resistance bands are a great way to build muscular strength and endurance without putting strain on the joints. They also improve flexibility, which reduces the chance of injury. Another benefit is that they are mobile, so the kids can use them in the weight room, gym, or hallway. Many of the coaches use these bands for warm-ups, workouts, and cool-downs, so I know they will be put to good use. The students will be excited that we purchased more of these when they come in. The storage bags are perfect as well. We love teaching lifelong sports that students can enjoy well into adulthood. The students worked in pairs and the lab was from a curriculum I bought on Teacher's Pay Teachers. The students were super excited to dissect the hearts and they worked very well together. One student was the dissector and one student was the reader and gave instructions to the dissector. The next steps will be to point out all the structures on the heart during the lab and use pipe cleaners to show how the blood goes from an artery and into a chamber. Thanks again for your donation. We used our funds to purchase a speaker with a microphone to use in our classroom and shop area. \r\n\r\nStudents have been using the microphone to give class presentations about their projects. Public speaking is a great fear among students and helping them to prepare for their future careers by working on this fear is a great asset.
