The students filled out an application to become a scientist of matter and were hired! \r\n\r\n After the application and hiring process students donned their lab coats, safety goggles, and official badges to become a scientist. They began investigating the effects of gases with a carbonation exploration. \r\n\r\n \r\nThe students had so much fun and were so excited to use the lab supplies. It made them feel like real scientist and gave them a sneak peek at real life application of things like the hiring process. The students were so excited to have them and they are able to easily find everything they need. \r\n\r\n The loss of our cubbies was a challenge when our classrooms were remodeled. Previously, my students used their cubbies as a storage solution for materials that were not in use. They do not have access to the public libraries because they don't have transportation in rural South Carolina. Technology has been integrated in schools for several years and has grown to be an essential part of daily learning. Education has been made fun through the use of online games, videos, and books. Students are able to use creative websites such as Canva or Kami to create presentations. \r\nFinally, students have been able to access Amira, an AI tool that will listen to students read and provide a running record. With this tool students receive real time feedback about their expression, intonation, and fluency while reading aloud. The students are excited to be in charge of their learning. They especially love that the headsets have a microphone! I have a few students who are shy and are still learning the English language, so speaking quietly to Amira is less pressure on them than in a small group setting read aloud.
