This is my first year at this school, and they have not had an art teacher for ten years, so all the students in the school, grades PreK-8th are having art class for the first time. We have been exploring so many different materials and skills, and really stretching our creative muscles. It has been amazing watching the students grow and create artwork that they are proud of. The other adults in the building also can't stop commenting on how great it is to see the hallways full of their creative projects. While we haven't had a chance to use all the supplies yet, we definitely will be before the year is over. We used the cardboard scissors and paint paletts for our Picasso inspired cardboard portraits, which were a HUGE hit. On that note, the microfiber cleaning cloths have been extremely helpful for cleaning up our messes when painting and glueing. The laminating sheets are helping to have long lasting drawing handouts that will be used for years to come, and the first graders used the ink pads to create shape stamped cityscapes in our shapes/architecture study. And the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card is a game changer for building my lesson library, since this is my frist year teaching art. Thank you SO MUCH for your help, and have a happy new year.","fullyFundedDate":1726671009916,"projectUrl":"project/lets-get-this-party-started/8763819/","projectTitle":"Let's Get This Party Started!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. WALSH","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1998343_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1511940683922","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-lwalsh"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_5851","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":211,"numTeachers":27,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":93,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"7.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":48.3,"schoolId":5851,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Johnson Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Johnson Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/chicago-public-school-district-299/johnson-elementary-school/5851"}
