Thanks to your support, we now have a vibrant collection of STEM materials, including Legos, kinetic sand, coding mats, and various STEM kits, and the energy they've brought to learning is truly infectious!\r\n\r\nYou asked how the students reacted when they first saw the materials—it was pure, joy. The kinetic sand was an immediate hit, but when they saw the tubs of colorful Legos and the large, brightly colored coding mats rolled out, they gasped. One student, stated \"It looks like a science playground!\" That initial excitement has not worn off, knowing every piece is a tool for discovery. Seeing their faces light up confirmed that we are giving them exactly what they need: hands-on, tangible opportunities to learn.\r\n\r\nOur most memorable moment came when one team utilized the coding mats. The kids have loved learning about coding and teaching coding to young Kindergarten through 5th grade students can be extremely difficult. The coding mats have been super helpful in allowing them to understand how specific coding is and allowing them to create their own code. \r\n\r\nNext, We will be transitioning from simple block-based coding to visual programming languages using the coding mats to introduce concepts like loops and conditional logic. Specifically, the students will be tasked with designing a system to efficiently sort small items (like Lego bricks) by color or size, requiring them to apply their knowledge of sensors and algorithms. This will move them from following instructions to inventing their own solutions to real-world efficiency problems.\r\n\r\nThank you again for partnering with us to make this level of hands-on learning possible. You aren't just donating materials; you are fueling curiosity and building the next generation of critical thinkers and innovators. We are immensely grateful.\r\n\r\nWarmly,","fullyFundedDate":1757523442509,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-foundation-for-tomorrow/9576005/","projectTitle":"Building a Foundation for Tomorrow","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shoemake","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10169478"},{"teacherId":9316475,"projectId":9168847,"letterContent":"You all are absolute rock stars! Thank you so much for your generosity. Our classroom library went from \"okay\" to the most popular spot in the room, and it's all thanks to you. The best part is that we're not just reading more, we're reading smarter. The classroom set of How to Read Literature Like a Professor has been a total game-changer. It's like we've given my students a secret decoder ring for books! They're starting to understand the \"secrets\" authors use to tell a great story, and it's been amazing to see them dig deep and have those \"Aha!\" moments when they realize a simple journey in a book is actually an epic quest in disguise.\r\n\r\nThe impact on individual students has been just plain awesome. It was so cool to see kids come back from summer break, worried they wouldn't be able to find the next book in a series they'd started, and then see their faces light up when they found it waiting on our new shelf! You kept their adventures going! I also have one student who was pretty \"meh\" about reading, but he grabbed one of the fantasy novels you funded and is now our resident expert on metal-based magic systems. He's gone from a reluctant reader to the kid who asks, \"Can we please have five more minutes to read?\" Your gift made that happen. You haven't just given us books; you've helped build a community of excited, skilled readers.
