These magazines have allowed my students to dive into real-world science in a way that is engaging, current, and completely accessible to sixth graders. With each issue, students practice essential literacy and science skills—annotating nonfiction texts, identifying key ideas and evidence, interpreting diagrams and data, and connecting scientific concepts to their own lives. These are the exact skills they need not only to read science, but to think like scientists.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom now feels alive. Students eagerly flip through the latest issue, highlighting important information, discussing vocabulary in context, and debating real-world problems presented in the articles. Our room often hums with conversations like, \"Did you see that experiment?\" or \"I never knew this could happen!\" Students work in pairs to answer questions, annotate articles, and build confidence in tackling complex informational texts. The magazines have become a central part of our weekly routine and something students genuinely look forward to.\r\n\r\nSome students, in particular, have found a real spark through these magazines. One student who typically struggles with longer chapter books has been fully engaged with the shorter, high-interest science articles—he now asks if we can read \"just one more\" during independent time. Another student who dreams of becoming a veterinarian was especially captivated by the animal science issues, even sharing facts at home and bringing them back to class. These moments remind us just how powerful it is when students see science presented in exciting, relevant ways. Thank you for giving my students the opportunity to explore, question, and discover the world through these magazines.","fullyFundedDate":1757517726055,"projectUrl":"project/lets-make-science-come-alive/9397802/","projectTitle":"Let's Make Science Come Alive","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Barrett","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5673007_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x510,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1749124064330","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5673007"},{"teacherId":2365142,"projectId":9282328,"letterContent":"Thank you for helping to fund my project.
