My students use the program, TinkerCad, to create original designs. Those designs are then sent to the teacher to approve and slice. Each day, students get to watch their creations come to life on the printer. \r\nDiscussions about 3D printing in our classroom have spread to other classes in the building. Our art teacher and math teacher are both excited for students to have this new experience. I hope to teach small groups about the slicing software during second semester.","fullyFundedDate":1758979445789,"projectUrl":"project/printing-with-stem/9730970/","projectTitle":"Printing with S.T.E.M.","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Winters","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1402372_orig.jpg?crop=289,289,x0,y3&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1688666049236","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/kari-winters"},{"teacherId":1402372,"projectId":9567733,"letterContent":"I am very excited to have these books as resources to build new lessons and build upon existing ones. One of our favorites, so far, is Ice Boy. Students were read the story during our weather unit. One of our activities is to travel the water cycle as a water molecule through rolling dice around the room. This book became the anchor to them creating their own story of a water molecule or a comic strip depicting the travels of the water molecule.\r\nThe Sun is a Big Deal launched our unit on the solar system. We used the book to anchor the idea that the Sun controls so much of the motion of our solar system and how it creates a large gravitational pull.","fullyFundedDate":1758336879725,"projectUrl":"project/science-literacy-in-action/9567733/","projectTitle":"Science Literacy In Action","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Winters","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1402372_orig.jpg?crop=289,289,x0,y3&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1688666049236","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/kari-winters"},{"teacherId":1402372,"projectId":9262048,"letterContent":"My students love having the new 3D pens. Some of our students have difficulty putting their ideas into the programming part of this, so the pens allow all to explore the technology of creating with PLA. Besides the pens and markers, we are also enjoying the smell of our new markers!
