I want to share this with you because all of you donors are a large part of why I was able to turn my office into a space where students can feel supported, valued, loved, heard and safe. My office that started out as empty and bland is now full of color, life, social emotional tools and play items that allow my preschool students a space to just be themselves whether that be engaging in laughter or tears. Many students have utilized my office as a quiet space to take a break when feeling overwhelmed and to process their feelings/emotions in their own way and on their own time. While other students earn time to come as an incentive for continued positive behavior and achievement as my office is now a place where children desire to be and I am seen as a trusted adult with whom they can let their guard down. Social skills groups are also held in my office which allows for students to form bonds and friendships with one another while learning to navigate appropriate boundaries and healthy self-advocacy skills. There is never a time that there isn't someone utilizing my office throughout the school day and this shows that there is a great need for counselors but also that it is a space within the school that all feel welcome and comforted. Shaping the minds of youth is one of the most impactful roles and because of you all I now have a space that feels like home and for that myself, my students and their families are immensely grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1754789059639,"projectUrl":"project/come-take-some-space-in-the-zen-den/9453093/","projectTitle":"Come Take Some Space in the Zen Den!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Raymond","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10073914_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752243365909","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10073914"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_60398","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":289,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":18,"percentWhite":28,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":44,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":51.2,"schoolId":60398,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about John A Parker Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"John A Parker Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/massachusetts/new-bedford-public-school-district/john-a-parker-elementary-school/60398"}
