This grant allowed me to order books for the library during a time when I was unable to use traditional channels. \r\n\r\nFiction horror, romance and manga are the most popular genres in my middle school library. The bulk of the books ordered were horror books and were immediately devoured by my middle school students. The library has a genrefied section that houses the horror collection but these books, especially the Asylum Series by Madeleine Roux were checked out so quickly I couldn't even get a picture of them! \r\n\r\nThe arrival of these books have infused excitement and a renewed love of reading into my library. These resources have already made a meaningful impact on my students and their testing experience.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the snacks and new materials, they were overjoyed. After working hard on their tests, receiving a treat brought big smiles to their faces. It was a simple but powerful way to acknowledge their effort. The snacks have continued to be a source of encouragement, and the diffuser has transformed the testing space into a calming environment. Many students have shared how much they appreciate the soothing atmosphere, which helps ease their anxiety during testing.\r\n\r\nThe Cricut markers and fidget toys have also been wonderful additions. The markers are being used for creative projects during their breaks. The fidget toys provide students with a quiet way to stay focused, especially for those who benefit from sensory tools.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, I hope to continue enhancing the testing room to make it an even more welcoming space for my students with disabilities. The school's budget often doesn't cover small but impactful resources like these, so your support means a great deal.
