The headphones and snacks you provided have transformed both my students learning environment and daily routines in ways that truly support student success.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new headphones, their excitement filled the room. Many of them have never had access to their own pair before, and several students asked, \"We each get one?!\" Students were eager to begin using them, and within minutes, they were logged into their online learning platforms, fully engaged and focused.\r\n\r\nThe headphones are now used daily during independent and small-group instruction. They have been especially impactful during our ELA and intervention blocks, where students use digital learning programs that support reading fluency, phonics, and comprehension. Before this project, students struggled with distractions and background noise, but now they are able to concentrate, work at their own pace, and receive personalized feedback through their online lessons. This has significantly improved their confidence and independence.\r\n\r\nThe snacks you provided have also had a meaningful effect on our classroom community. Many students come to school hungry or lose focus as the day goes on. Having snacks available has helped students stay energized, feel cared for, and maintain their stamina—especially during long periods of testing, reading, or writing. Something as simple as a snack has boosted morale, reduced behavior challenges, and created a more positive and nurturing classroom atmosphere. Students often express gratitude and have even begun reminding one another to \"grab a snack if you need to refocus,\" showing how it has supported both academic and social-emotional growth.\r\n\r\nThank you for choosing to invest in my students. Your support didn't just provide materials it provided comfort, motivation, and equitable access to learning. Because of you, students feel valued, supported, and ready to learn every day. We are truly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1758841044429,"projectUrl":"project/caring-for-the-whole-child-comfort-and/9680714/","projectTitle":"Caring for the Whole Child: Comfort and Learning Tools","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Toussaint","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4396447_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1502592049909","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-toussaint17"},{"teacherId":4396447,"projectId":8874564,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our SEL corner with your generous snack donations! The excitement on my students' faces when they saw the fully stocked corner was priceless. They immediately felt cared for and valued, knowing someone had thought about their needs. These snacks not only provide nourishment but also help students refocus and manage emotions during tough moments. Your kindness has made our classroom a safer, happier place, and we are all so grateful for your support.\r\n\r\nThe snacks have also created a sense of community in our classroom. Students often encourage their peers to visit the SEL corner when they see someone feeling overwhelmed or struggling. It's heartwarming to see them looking out for one another, sharing resources, and fostering an environment of empathy and kindness. These moments wouldn't be possible without your generosity, and it's inspiring to witness the difference it has made in their lives.","fullyFundedDate":1729952213301,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-minds-and-hearts-snacks-for-our/8874564/","projectTitle":"Fueling Minds and Hearts: Snacks for Our SEL Corner","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Toussaint","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4396447_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1502592049909","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-toussaint17"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_1209","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":306,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":91,"percentAsian":18,"percentBlack":38,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":4,"percentLatinx":37,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"9.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":71.2,"schoolId":1209,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Junior High School 218 James Peter Sinnott on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Junior High School 218 James Peter Sinnott","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/jhs-218-james-peter-sinnott/1209"}
