Each month we focus on a specific outcome. We just completed the month-long outcome on gratitude. We taught students that \"Gratitude\" is defined as \"choosing to appreciate the people and things in our lives\". This outcome perfectly aligns with how we, teacher and students, felt when we received the beautiful kidney table, multi-colored stools to sit at the table, two mesh metal filing crates and multi-colored baskets to keep our learning organized. Without question, we thank you from our depths for your kindness and generosity to support our learning for months and years to come. \r\n\r\nMy class this year is heavily composed of multi-language and special education learners. We work hard to understand what we need and your giving inspired us to learn more. Daily, we gather around our kidney table to engage as life-long learners. From exploring how light interacts with various materials (transparent, translucent, opaque); and from understanding how our nation formed a new government creating a three branch system to balance representative democracy; to comparing and identifying fractions using fraction titles. \r\n\r\nYour donation even allowed a substitution that turned out better than expected. I was able to select their favorites: stickers and chips! My students love to be rewarded with food! The box of chips didn't last long. However, the colorful and inspirational stickers with encouraging words in English and Spanish, continue to uplift all of us. Each day on my plastic computer cover, students see my choice of several stickers that say : Kindness, Be you not them, Enjoy Today, Bee Happy, just share a few. One student noticed I had a butterfly sticker upside down and asked why. I responded by sharing that 4 stickers are purposefully placed to encourage me and that the butterfly reminds me to \"become the change\". \r\n\r\nYour giving has truly influenced us all!
