Many of them immediately began asking questions about the different engineering fields and making connections to things they see every day, like bridges, apps, and machines.\r\n\r\nUsing the new resources, students explored careers in mechanical, software, civil, and hydraulics engineering. Each hands-on activity gave them a real-world connection to how engineers design, build, and solve problems. For example, while working with the hydraulics kit, students were amazed to see how fluid power could lift and move objects, sparking conversations about how these systems are used in construction and robotics.\r\n\r\nThe next steps for my students will be applying what they learned to design their own engineering challenges. They'll work in teams to brainstorm, build, and test creative solutions—just like real engineers. These experiences are not only teaching them about STEM careers but also inspiring them to see themselves as future problem-solvers and innovators.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students this opportunity to dream big and explore exciting possibilities in STEM!","fullyFundedDate":1753130142799,"projectUrl":"project/inspiring-future-engineers-exploring-ca/9205010/","projectTitle":"Inspiring Future Engineers: Exploring Careers in STEM","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jeffreys","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9026882_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753138463140","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9026882"},{"teacherId":9026882,"projectId":8373750,"letterContent":"The students were excited and nervous at the same time. When they first saw the materials, which included a pig on the table in front of them, there was an initial shock and surprise. However, after that initial moment, most of the groups dove right in, eagerly identifying the gender of the pig, removing the organs, and carefully looking for any defects or potential causes of death. It was such an awesome opportunity for them to engage in hands-on learning and gain a deeper understanding of biology in a real-world context. You have allowed my students the opportunity to share the gift of kindness to the people in our area who live in food deserts. Many of my students are unable to donate themselves due to financial constraints. In addition to your donation, we were only able to collect 21 cans from homes in my classes. This limitation does two things to my students - makes them feel inadequate and makes them feel like they cannot help. Your generosity helped eliminate the negative impacts and helped each and every student feel empowered to be a positive influence in his or her community. \r\n\r\nThe Hope Bus came to the school to get the supplies that had been collected. Your donations were given directly to the Hope Bus by the students. The kids were able to see in real time the difference that they made through the donations. Students were able to personally feel the satisfaction that comes from being an instrument of kindness. The kids were moved by the power of service.
