Kindergarten is such a special time. They are learning their letters, sounds, numbers, and how to read, but they are also learning who they are. I want every child who walks through my classroom door to know they are special, capable, and have something wonderful to offer the world.\r\n\r\nGiraffes Can't Dance has given us the perfect opportunity to talk about being different, facing challenges, and finding our own special way to shine. My students have loved Gerald's story, and I have loved watching them make connections to their own lives. We talk about how we don't all learn the same way, have the same strengths, or do things at the same pace—and that is perfectly okay.\r\n\r\nSeeing each child receive their very own copy of the book has been especially meaningful to me. Their excitement when they hold their book, look through the pages, and proudly call it \"my book\" is something I will never take for granted. I have watched their confidence grow as they retell the story, share their thoughts, encourage their friends, and make connections to their own experiences.\r\n\r\nAs a teacher, those little moments mean everything to me.\r\n\r\nTo the generous donors who made this project possible, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You didn't simply provide books for my classroom. You helped me place a special reminder into the hands of each of my students: You are unique. You are important. You can do hard things. And you have your own special song to share with the world.\r\n\r\nI wish you could be in our classroom to see the smiles, hear the giggles, and listen to the sweet conversations these books have created. You would see exactly why I am so grateful to be their teacher.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my kindergarteners and for believing in me as their teacher.
