Your support has made a significant difference in the reading experiences of my students.\r\n\r\nLast year, my class absolutely loved the books from the popular series you helped provide. These books quickly became favorites, sparking excitement and curiosity every day. We dedicate 20 minutes daily to Silent Reading, a special time when students immerse themselves in independent reading. Thanks to your donations, my students have been able to build their reading stamina little by little, gaining confidence and joy in their reading journeys.\r\n\r\nThis year, my new class is equally thrilled to have access to the novel sets you provided. The students are eager to dive into the Wings of Fire series and the Smile graphic novel series during silent reading time. It's wonderful to see nearly every student asking to borrow these books, which speaks volumes about how engaging and accessible they find the stories.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, we use the class sets for targeted reading groups, which allows me to differentiate instruction and better meet the needs of each learner. These resources are invaluable for fostering collaboration and discussion among students, helping them develop critical thinking and comprehension skills.\r\n\r\nYour generous contribution is truly helping my students level up in their reading abilities. Beyond just the books, you have helped cultivate a love for reading that will benefit them throughout their academic lives and beyond. After moving from 3rd grade down to 1st grade, I noticed I didn't have as many grade appropriate books as I needed. Each week my students get to pick out five books to store in their book bags for independent reading. My students were picking out books, but were not enjoying them and/or not able to read them and were just looking at the pictures. I noticed they were gravitating towards the few Nat Geo Kids books and Early Reader books. The students often fought over them, as I didn't have very many.\r\n\r\nWith your donation, I was able to fill up most of my book bins and my students are loving the variety and are no longer fighting as there are plenty to go around. The Nat Geo Kids books come in four different reading levels which allow all my students the ability to read and gain knowledge at their level.\r\n\r\nWhen students love what they read and can read at their level, they are more willing to read for fun. My students no longer sigh and moan when I have them get their book bags to read. So, thank you for giving the gift of reading to my students.","fullyFundedDate":1736106324833,"projectUrl":"project/first-grade-books-are-in-high-demand-in/8911826/","projectTitle":"First Grade Books Are in High Demand in My Classroom.","teacherDisplayName":"Teacher Figueroa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3400424_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1509950609307","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3400424"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_42382","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":334,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":80,"percentAsian":18,"percentBlack":13,"percentWhite":21,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":32,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"19.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":88.2,"schoolId":42382,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about James W Marshall Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"James W Marshall Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/sacramento-city-unified-school-district/james-w-marshall-elementary-school/42382"}
