My students have been using the supplies and are so fortunate to have them. They were so surprised when I kept getting boxes delivered! When I showed them everything that was donated to the class, they were so excited and grateful! \r\nWe have been using the \"spot of\" emotions books for our character pillar months. I read them aloud during morning meeting and then we engage in an activity related to that \"spot of emotion.\" The books have been helpful in reminding us why it is important to be kind, respectful, responsible, and that it is okay to feel what you feel. We even made a kindness bulletin board after we read the spot of kindness, for world kindness day! \r\nBoth of my classes have been using the expo markers and erasers during whole group activities. We did an activity discussing symbolism. The students drew an object that could have been represented in the novel we were reading! Before, I was unable to use the white boards I have, because we did not have any erasers and not all students had markers, now, more engaging activities like these are able to be accomplished! \r\nAll of the pencils have been used already, the students never seem to have enough pencils! They have been using the post-its during their independent readings, where they are able to make connections with the text. \r\nI have been using the book bins to store some of our novels, this is because the window in my classroom needs to be resealed, so to protect the books, they have been stored in the book bins. I am also using the book bins for small group activities, students can work with their peers on different activities where they are practicing the ELA skills we learned in class. The bins are a great storage saver, and help keep not only myself, but the student organized with their materials. \r\n\r\nThere were so many other wonderful things donated to my classroom and students, I cannot put into words how fortunate we are! We are all so appreciative to have your support in building our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1728312612634,"projectUrl":"project/first-year-books-and-supplies/8499557/","projectTitle":"First Year Books and Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Romeo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9558045"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_81511","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":586,"numTeachers":32,"percentFrplEligible":11,"percentAsian":84,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"3 - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"18.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":67.4,"schoolId":81511,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about James Madison Intermediate School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"James Madison Intermediate School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/edison-township-public-school-district/james-madison-intermediate-school/81511"}
