My students have had the pleasure to receive all of these resources that were funded through your generous donations. They were so excited to receive all of their sand trays and other materials. My students were especially excited to use the sand trays. They were a huge hit and they look froward to the end of every week to use these materials during Fun Friday.\r\n\r\nThe key to reading instruction is for it to be multi-sensory. They can participate in reading instruction while using the sand trays. The students are able to engage in meaningful activities while making connections with the reading rules they learned in class. They can then apply those rules to their writing skills when using the sand trays spelling words. They especially enjoy the board game because it helps them understand digraphs in words. It is a hands on engaging experience. \r\n\r\nThe double sided dry erase sound/syllable boards are especially useful when teaching students to identify sounds or syllables in words. They can visual see the sounds or syllables divided while making sound letter connections.\r\n\r\nThe explode the code books are helpful because they can be used as supplemental material for home assistance or also as in class review on Fun Friday's to solidify previously learned information.\r\n\r\nMy plans for the next step to the project are to continue to utilize these materials for my newer students that I am working with and to continue to utilize these materials with some of the same students I worked with last year. They appreciate all of your support with making learning fun and something that they look forward to each week! The sand boards will help support visual and kinesthetic learning more forward.","fullyFundedDate":1743050389673,"projectUrl":"project/lets-use-sand-and-fun-to-help-us-read/8998491/","projectTitle":"Let’s Use Sand and Fun to Help Us Read!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Stuber","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9869612"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_22822","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":521,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":49,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":9,"percentWhite":28,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":57,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"4 - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"15.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":62.9,"schoolId":22822,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about James A Farley Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"James A Farley Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/north-rockland-central-school-district/james-a-farley-middle-school/22822"}
