I am a special education teacher. I teach multiple types of learners. My students have a variety of learning, social, emotional, behavioral, and sensory challenges. Knowing that they have a space to retreat to where they can re-group, have a snack and re-set their minds helps them to get back to learning. Especially significant for kids with special needs, being hungry creates a loud \"noise\" in their mind and body. Knowing there are snacks available to them is a great way to keep them focused on the hard work of learning. \r\n\r\nIn the twenty plus years I have been a teacher, I've spent a ton of money and time procuring food for my students. Most years, I work with students who deal with food insecurity on a regular basis. Over the years, I've seen public schools offer more free and reduced lunch options. In our District all students were provided with a free lunch for a while due in part to a grant received by one of our school staff. Despite the free and reduced lunch offerings, the kids are hungry all day long. A snack not only provides needed nutrition but it offers kids a down time to connect with an adult and allows for a small window to build relationships. I simply can't thank you enough.","fullyFundedDate":1729807065022,"projectUrl":"project/full-bellies-are-ready-to-learn/8816585/","projectTitle":"Full Bellies Are Ready to Learn!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bressler","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9775600"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_39554","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":664,"numTeachers":52,"percentFrplEligible":23,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":62,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":32,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"12.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":76.5,"schoolId":39554,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Jackson Hole Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Jackson Hole Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/wyoming/teton-county-school-district-1/jackson-hole-middle-school/39554"}
