My middle school special education classrooms have been filled with your donations and have made an impact already on my students' learning. My students are 7th and 8th graders who spend time in modified classes due to the educational impact of their special education eligibilities. We aim for inclusion at our school and having these donations aids us teachers in that cause. \r\n\r\n Many of students have enjoyed having the manipulatives for math, materials to improve their fine motor skills, extra expo markers to draw on their own white boards, laminated worksheets to help with repetition of lessons and skills, and more! The materials purchased for my life skills students has assisted me and my students immensely. The Science kit is their favorite right now and we love doing hands on science experiments to better understand the concepts in the general education classroom. \r\n\r\n I am new to teaching life skill students and having these materials has helped me to better my practice and aid in my own skill development. Being able to have these ready for me to use in my classrooms makes my prep time simpler and more efficient. I feel that the assistants in my classroom are more effective in supporting the students with their academic work, their individual needs and their emotional health. They have a LOT of entertainment/leisure options at their disposal; books are not always their go-to. \r\n\r\nStudents also come to school with wildly varying degrees of readiness. Some read widely and deeply; some can barely read at all. Some love manga. Some love romance. And some will ONLY read \"Dog Man\" and \"Diary of a Wimpy Kid\" titles (until I remove them from the shelves on the last day of Semester 1). 😜\r\n\r\nIn any event, it's the wide variety of high-quality books that allows ALL students to become readers — and I thank you for helping me to help those students.","fullyFundedDate":1744234867274,"projectUrl":"project/book-reading-is-good/9112378/","projectTitle":"“Book-Reading is Good”","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Jones","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9482077_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1736397456999","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9482077"},{"teacherId":9482077,"projectId":9254351,"letterContent":"The books you helped me to purchase for our classroom library are already making a positive difference in the lives of my seventh-grade students. \r\n\r\nAt the beginning of a new school year, I meet students who already love reading, students who read \"sometimes,\" students who claim to dislike the reading of books, students who struggle with reading, etc. \r\n\r\nAnd as I introduce our classroom library, provide daily time for independent choice-reading, and encourage check-outs...I watch carefully.\r\n\r\nBook-lovers start devouring books (and series) and experiment with classics. One student even said, \"These feel like real math notebooks, not just regular paper!\" The grid has already helped them stay organized while working through graphing and multi-step equation problems.\r\n\r\nThe highlighters have been a huge hit too. Students use them to color-code steps in multi-step equations and to mark important vocabulary in their notes, which has made their work much clearer and easier to follow. Our rolling whiteboard has been a game-changer during group work—I can move it around the room so students can work out problems together and share their thinking with their classmates.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments so far was watching a small group huddle around the whiteboard, debating which method to use to solve a transformation problem. They were passing the marker back and forth, engaged in passionate discussion.
