With 18 young children in our classroom, we go through cleaning supplies quickly! The mop and other cleaning supplies help us keep our classroom and learning areas clean after meals, centers, sensory activities, and everyday preschool messes.\r\n\r\nThe laminating sheets have also been very helpful. We are using them to protect classroom signs, learning materials, visual supports, and activities that the children use regularly. This allows us to reuse our materials throughout the school year instead of constantly having to replace them.\r\n\r\nOur students are excited to see their classroom materials ready for them each day. While they may not realize how important these supplies are, they benefit from having a clean, welcoming, and well-prepared environment where they can explore and learn.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue creating engaging hands-on learning experiences as we build our classroom community. We are teaching the children classroom routines, friendship skills, feelings, and how to take care of their classroom. They immediately wanted to find a spot and sit on it. We are learning about feelings, friendship, classroom rules, and how to be a good friend. Seeing how excited they were to receive something just for them was such a special moment.\r\n\r\nThese materials also gave my students fun activities to enjoy during the summer, especially since not every student has access to electronics or other activities at home. One of my favorite moments was when my students had the opportunity to read to second graders. While reading aloud can feel challenging and even embarrassing at times, they were able to read confidently and take pride in their progress.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, they were excited and curious. Many of them had never had access to books that truly met them where they are as readers. Third-grade texts can often feel intimidating, but these resources gave them a sense of comfort and possibility. The beanbag has also become a special part of our classroom—it gives students a comfortable place to sit while reading, a spot to rest when they aren't feeling well, and even a place where they can relax and laugh with their peers. They have been learning about puppetry and were so excited to make paper bag puppets using the markers, scissors, and clipboards from the project. Students have also learned about Greek Theatre and created team flags for our version of the Greek Olympics students will compete in as well. \r\n\r\nThe students were so excited when I told them we finally got clipboards. They have been wanting hard surfaces to write on the whole year. With no desks many were forced to use the floor but with clipboards I can allow the students to use flexible seating in the auditorium which better suits their learning needs. I am so grateful for the storage bins and buckets as well. As a first year teacher, I am still learning the best way to organize my classroom and these materials have made it so much easier to keep each class's materials divided so they don't get mixed up. \r\n\r\nArts and theatre education is so important in schools and this year I have been able to witness my students become kinder, better teammates, empathetic, and creative because of theatre class.
