The event brought together families, teachers, and students to celebrate the joy of reading and the power of imagination.\r\nThrough engaging make-and-take literacy activities, scholars were able to strengthen foundational reading skills while having fun with their families. These hands-on experiences reinforced important concepts such as phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension, while also encouraging creativity and collaboration. The opportunity for families to actively participate in learning allowed parents to see simple, effective strategies they can use at home to support reading development.\r\nThe event also helped build a stronger school-home connection, which is vital to student growth. Scholars left feeling proud, motivated, and excited to read more. Many shared that their favorite part of the evening was getting to create, read, and explore stories alongside their families and teachers. In addition, scholars who attended earned a free dress-down pass and house points, recognizing their commitment to learning beyond the classroom.\r\nWe are grateful to our staff, volunteers, and community partners who made this night possible. Because of your support, our scholars are developing a deeper love for reading and a greater confidence in their literacy skills. Events like these remind us that when schools and families work together, our students thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1758821194178,"projectUrl":"project/roll-out-the-red-carpet-for-family-liter/9661886/","projectTitle":"Roll Out the Red Carpet for Family Literacy Night","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rhoden","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9307266_orig.jpg?crop=1575,1575,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752544825651","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9307266"},{"teacherId":10079093,"projectId":9462422,"letterContent":"I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to extend my heartfelt thanks for your generous donation that made it possible for our classroom to receive Morning STEM Bins. Your support has made a significant and lasting impact on both the structure of our mornings and the overall learning environment.\r\nSince introducing the STEM Bins into our daily routine, mornings in our classroom have transformed in the most positive way. What was once a time of hustle and transition has become an opportunity for students to ease into the day with curiosity, creativity, and calm focus. The bins have provided a structured, hands-on way for students to engage in meaningful learning right from the start of the day. Students look forward to STEM bins throughout the day as we not only use them during our morning routine, we also use them during Science class when we have a little bit of extra time or on Fridays when they have Fun Friday time! Students were most excited about the LEGO sets, but love the Building Blocks and using them to create new items that aren't on the cards provided in the set.\r\nEach morning, students eagerly choose a STEM Bin and dive into building, problem-solving, and experimenting. This not only sparks their imagination but also fosters essential skills such as collaboration, critical thinking, and perseverance. The open-ended nature of the activities encourages them to think outside the box.\r\nBeyond academic benefits, the STEM Bins have improved classroom behavior and created a smoother start to the day. Students are more settled, engaged, and ready to learn when we begin our core instruction. It has truly set a positive tone that carries through the rest of our school day.\r\nYour generosity has given my students a chance to explore STEM in a joyful and accessible way, and for that, I am deeply grateful. Thank you for believing in our classroom and helping to make mornings something we all look forward to.","fullyFundedDate":1753300836021,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-minds-on/9462422/","projectTitle":"Hands-On, Minds-On","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Johnson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10079093_orig.jpg?crop=907,907,x348,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752513463973","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10079093"},{"teacherId":9307266,"projectId":9426558,"letterContent":"We are incredibly grateful for your generous donations that have allowed us to bring more read-aloud books into our classroom. These books have already made a powerful impact on our students and have enriched the way we use the Benchmark curriculum each day. Because Benchmark is organized around thought-provoking themes that connect to science, social studies, and literature, read-alouds provide the perfect way to introduce students to new ideas. They help build essential background knowledge and vocabulary, preparing our scholars to dive into the grade-level concepts and discussions that Benchmark emphasizes. Thanks to you, we are able to give every child the chance to begin their learning journey with strong, engaging stories that spark curiosity and set the stage for success.\r\nRead-alouds also allow us to model key skills that Benchmark highlights, including fluency, expression, and comprehension strategies. When students listen to fluent reading, they hear how good readers use phrasing, intonation, and pacing to bring stories to life. As teachers, we can pause during read-alouds to \"think aloud,\" showing students how to make predictions, ask questions, and summarize information—strategies that are at the heart of the Benchmark framework. This modeling gives students the tools they need to apply these skills when reading independently. Because of your donations, our scholars now have access to a wide range of high-quality texts that make these lessons both engaging and meaningful.\r\nPerhaps the most significant impact of these read-aloud books is the way they promote equity and inclusion in our classroom. Listening removes the decoding barrier, so all students—including those still developing foundational skills and English learners—can access the same rich content as their peers. This creates an environment where every student has the opportunity to participate fully in discussions, share insights, and connect with the curriculum at grade level. It also builds excitement and a love for reading, which we see daily in our students' enthusiasm to talk about the stories we share together. None of this would be possible without your support. Your donations have not only placed books in our hands but have opened doors to knowledge, confidence, and joy in reading for every child.\r\nThank you again for investing in our classroom and our students' futures. The impact of your generosity is felt in every story we share, every discussion we hold, and every new connection our scholars make. We are deeply appreciative of your support and excited to continue watching our students grow into thoughtful, confident readers with the help of the read-aloud books you made possible.","fullyFundedDate":1753300836077,"projectUrl":"project/read-aloud-books-with-curriculum/9426558/","projectTitle":"Read Aloud Books with Curriculum","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rhoden","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9307266_orig.jpg?crop=1575,1575,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752544825651","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9307266"},{"teacherId":9307266,"projectId":9456102,"letterContent":"We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported our library project so far. While the shelves aren't fully stocked and the finishing touches are still being added, the energy and excitement in our school are already undeniable. Our scholars are buzzing with anticipation, eager to see the space come to life, and we can already imagine the many wonderful moments that will take place here in the years ahead.\r\nThe transformation of our library is more than just a physical update—it's a step toward creating a hub of curiosity, imagination, and discovery for all of our students. Every improvement we make is with their learning and growth in mind. From reorganizing books so they are easier to find, to adding comfortable spaces where students can read and reflect, our goal is to create a place where every child feels inspired to open a book and dive into a story or explore a new topic.\r\nOne of the most beautiful parts of this project has been the way our school community has come together. Parents have been right there with us—helping to move furniture, label books, sort materials, and bring our vision closer to reality. Their willingness to give their time, energy, and skills shows our scholars what it means to work together toward a shared goal. Our students see that this space is being built for them, with love and care from people who believe in their potential.\r\nEven though the library is still a work in progress, it has already become a place of excitement. Students peek through the door to see what's new each day, asking questions like, \"When will it be ready?\" and \"Can we check out books yet?\" That enthusiasm is exactly why this project matters. It's proof that a welcoming, thoughtfully designed library can spark curiosity before it even opens.\r\nOnce complete, the library will be a place where students can do so much more than read—it will be a space for collaboration, quiet reflection, research, and creativity. We envision students working together on projects, reading aloud to each other, discovering new authors, and building a lifelong love of learning. With access to a variety of books, resources, and comfortable spaces, our scholars will have the tools they need to dream big and explore the world around them.\r\nYour generosity has made all of this possible. Whether you donated materials, volunteered your time, or contributed funds, you have played an important role in creating something special for our students. You've helped us take a vision and begin turning it into reality. We are deeply grateful for your support, and we look forward to sharing the final reveal with you when the library is complete. Until then, please know that your kindness is already making a lasting impact—one that will inspire generations of readers, thinkers, and dreamers.\r\nThank you for believing in our scholars and helping us create a space they can truly call their own","fullyFundedDate":1752611256297,"projectUrl":"project/from-shelves-to-spaces-the-library-make/9456102/","projectTitle":"From Shelves to Spaces: the Library Makeover Project","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rhoden","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9307266_orig.jpg?crop=1575,1575,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752544825651","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9307266"},{"teacherId":9307266,"projectId":9378698,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our Morning STEM Bins!
