With the external hard drive, we now have a reliable way to store and access student projects, digital presentations, and creative work without worrying about losing important files. This allows students to revisit their work, revise it, and see their progress over time, which is a powerful part of the learning process.\r\n\r\nStudents have been especially excited about being able to save and build on their work from one project to the next. Several students who enjoy creating digital presentations and visual projects have really embraced the technology because it gives them the space to experiment, improve their work, and take pride in what they produce.\r\n\r\nHaving dependable tools like this helps students focus less on technical limitations and more on creativity, collaboration, and learning.","fullyFundedDate":1770828891693,"projectUrl":"project/digital-portfolios-for-young-innovators/9839397/","projectTitle":"Digital Portfolios for Young Innovators","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Anderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp955006_orig.jpg?crop=4094,4095,x0,y218&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1656601214842","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/andersonl"},{"teacherId":5953565,"projectId":9973845,"letterContent":"This project has had a meaningful impact on my third-grade artists and our art classroom. When the paint markers, chalk, Sharpies, quality paper, and mat board arrived, students were thrilled to work with materials that felt professional and special. As they learned portrait-drawing techniques and explored mixed-media art, they became more engaged, confident, and willing to take creative risks.\r\n\r\nThe most memorable moment came when students mounted their finished portraits on the mat board. Seeing their artwork professionally presented transformed the way they viewed themselves as artists. Students proudly shared their portraits with classmates, teachers, and family members, amazed by what they had accomplished. The finished pieces became a celebration of creativity, self-expression, and personal growth.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students experienced the joy of creating with high-quality materials and seeing their work displayed with pride and purpose. The confidence and artistic skills they gained through this project will carry into future lessons as they continue exploring color, composition, and creative expression.","fullyFundedDate":1766988310133,"projectUrl":"project/color-confidence-and-creativity-portr/9973845/","projectTitle":"Color, Confidence, and Creativity: Portraits That Tell a Story","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5953565_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1538765070531","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mama-smith"},{"teacherId":8635073,"projectId":9615871,"letterContent":"The DonorsChoose items have made a huge difference in my classroom. My students are more engaged, prepared, and excited to learn each day. Having the right materials has allowed me to better support different learning styles and keep lessons interactive. The resources have also created a more organized and positive environment, helping students feel valued and motivated. These items truly strengthened both learning and classroom community.\r\nOverall, the DonorsChoose contributions have created a more engaging, equitable, and supportive learning environment. Students come directly from a full instructional day, and having food available immediately helps them settle in, refocus, and engage. During a recent math tutoring session, students stayed longer, collaborated more, and were willing to work through challenging problems because their basic needs were met. The snacks have helped create a calm, supportive environment where learning can happen without distractions.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the snacks, they were excited and genuinely grateful. \r\nThis created instant buy in and made them more willing to attend tutoring consistently. Moving forward, students will continue using after-school time to strengthen math and literacy skills through targeted support and small-group instruction. Because of this project, we are able to sustain a welcoming space where students feel cared for, focused, and ready to grow academically.","fullyFundedDate":1763494150843,"projectUrl":"project/socratic-snacking/9873730/","projectTitle":"Socratic Snacking","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Anderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp955006_orig.jpg?crop=4094,4095,x0,y218&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1656601214842","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/andersonl"},{"teacherId":8636943,"projectId":9598994,"letterContent":"Since receiving the iPad, my students have been able to use technology in ways that deepen their learning and keep them highly engaged. Many of our donors may use devices at home for everyday tasks, but in our classroom, this iPad has become a true learning tool. It allows me to project interactive PowerPoint lessons that students can follow step by step, making abstract concepts easier to understand. Instead of passively listening, students now interact with visuals, examples, and practice activities right from the screen.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for my students is seeing lessons come alive in real time. When we work on math problems or science concepts, they can immediately see how their answers connect to the material. The iPad also makes transitions between activities smoother, which keeps their focus on learning rather than waiting.\r\n\r\nOne student in particular, who normally struggles to stay engaged, has really warmed up to using this technology. Whenever we begin a new lesson, he's the first to raise his hand and participate, because the visuals and interactive elements help him process information in a way that traditional methods did not. His confidence has grown, and he now volunteers answers more often in front of his peers.\r\n\r\nOverall, this project has transformed our classroom into a more interactive, student-centered space. The iPad isn't just a piece of technology—it's a bridge to greater understanding and excitement for learning.","fullyFundedDate":1757511211458,"projectUrl":"project/tech-tools-for-future-scientists-and-mat/9598994/","projectTitle":"Tech Tools for Future Scientists and Mathematicians","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Brooks","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8636943_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1661028453296","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/brooks202"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_106158","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":400,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":92,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"12.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":40.8,"schoolId":106158,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Friendship Public Charter School - Ideal Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Friendship Public Charter School - Ideal Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/district-of-columbia/district-of-columbia-public-charter-school-board/ideal-academy-public-chrtr-school/106158"}
