Historically, the inability to afford new reeds was a major obstacle, leading to student frustration and poor tone quality.\r\n\r\nThanks to your immediate support, we have removed this barrier entirely. Our students now have access to high-quality, functioning reeds, which has instantly improved their tone production, reduced instrument squeaks, and, most importantly, boosted their confidence and enjoyment in making music. Your donation has shifted their focus from battling equipment to concentrating on musicality.\r\n\r\nThe students were relieved and excited to receive the professional-grade materials. They instantly recognized the importance of consistent, quality supplies to their success.\r\n\r\nYour investment has directly supported our current focus on ensemble blending and dynamic control. The consistency provided by the new reeds is critical for this work. Our immediate next step is preparing for our Winter Concert on December 17th. Because of your generosity, our students will be able to perform their music with a clarity and confidence that truly sounds the future!\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in our student musicians.","fullyFundedDate":1752586575262,"projectUrl":"project/sound-the-future-essential-reeds-for-st/9297258/","projectTitle":"Sound the Future: Essential Reeds for Student Musicians","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Barnes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp434938_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1457873852426","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/434938"},{"teacherId":434938,"projectId":9307621,"letterContent":"The new Xeno trombone, assigned to our lead low brass student, provides a professional anchor for our sound. The reaction was a mixture of excitement and genuine respect for its value, which instilled a sense of pride and responsibility in the player and motivated the entire low brass section to practice harder.\r\n\r\nWe are now challenging the low brass with complex, exposed harmonic passages that require precise dynamic control. It's now used to add sparkle and ensure key melodic lines are never lost.\r\nThe students were immediately impressed by its quality and responsiveness. The flute section was excited, noting how much easier it is to achieve a clear, focused high tone compared to the old instrument. They view it as a coveted instrument, fostering a healthy drive among the flutists to master the challenging piccolo technique.\r\n\r\nOur next project is focusing on a delicate piece, \"October\" by Eric Whitacre, which has an exposed piccolo part. We are using the new instrument to develop extreme control over pitch and dynamics in the highest register.
