My students are using them daily to explore math concepts like counting, sorting, patterns, and simple addition in a hands-on, engaging way.\r\nWhen my students first saw the new manipulatives, their eyes lit up with excitement! There was an immediate buzz in the room—lots of curious hands reaching out, smiles, and joyful chatter as they explored the colors, shapes, and textures. Their reactions made it clear: these materials aren't just tools—they're invitations to play, discover, and learn. It was a powerful reminder of how the right resources can spark engagement and turn everyday lessons into something magical.\r\nRight now, our students are using the new manipulatives to build foundational math skills, and the next step is applying what they've learned to real-world problem-solving. We'll be moving into small group activities where students will use the manipulatives to represent addition and subtraction stories, create patterns, and even begin simple graphing.\r\n\r\nThey'll also work on explaining their thinking to peers—building not just math skills, but communication and teamwork. It's all about helping them move from exploration to mastery, with lots of hands-on support along the way!","fullyFundedDate":1647828975707,"projectUrl":"project/work-hard-play-hard/6249017/","projectTitle":"Work Hard, Play Hard","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Guzman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8352036"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_7440","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":162,"numTeachers":12,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":93,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - K","studentTeacherRatio":"13.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":78.3,"schoolId":7440,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Hooper Primary Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Hooper Primary Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/los-angeles-unified-school-district/hooper-new-primary-center/7440"}
