As I shared prior, many students do not have books at home to read and even more have a \"summer drop\" in their reading ability from not reading during the summer. Having access is only part of the issue. Another part is finding books that students actually WANT to read. \r\nOur class read the first of this series as a novel study this year and I was so excited at seeing all of my students not only participate in reading this book but actually look forward to reading it daily!\r\nStudents who don't normally participate in class discussions or even feel confident began to open up and participate more with this novel study. They were interested in the characters and the journey they went through to overcome the conflict they faced. This is vital for many of our literature standards in 6th grade!\r\n When we received funding for this book, which is the second in this Percy series, I KNEW students were going to be so excited to get these and the looks on their faces proved it! One kid even said \"I am starting this now, wait, can I?\" This was a kid who was a huge reluctant reader and now I KNOW he WILL go home and read this book and for that, I simply cannot thank you enough!\r\nReading this will help with student's fluency, comprehension and reinforce the standards we worked on this year focusing on plot and character development.","fullyFundedDate":1746584297465,"projectUrl":"project/help-the-love-of-reading-continue-into-t/9145856/","projectTitle":"Help the Love of Reading Continue Into the Summer!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Skinner","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1781141_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1707854812621","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1781141"},{"teacherId":1437840,"projectId":9105296,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations.
