We have incorporated science discussions and share-outs in class. Students recently crafted creative, colorful one-pagers to convey the most important information in their news articles. These articles offered students choices and covered topics about endangered birds, orphaned oil wells, and plastic particles we consume daily. As a teacher, I enjoyed the science discussions and creativity; however, I heard complaints from the students because they were challenged by the projects. \r\n\r\nOften, times of complaining lead to great learning. The learning occurred--students combined the learning of identifying text structures, summarizing, and questioning in their one-pagers. By combining those aspects with creative elements such as a related song and multiple images, my students brought science news to a new level of understanding and display. \r\n\r\nI truly appreciate being able to open my closet and provide markers, cardstock, and magazines during these projects. Proper supplies at our fingertips simplify the learning process.","fullyFundedDate":1724618366317,"projectUrl":"project/showcasing-science-and-technology-themes/8697310/","projectTitle":"Showcasing Science and Technology Themes Through Thoughtful Creativity","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bowman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8724248"},{"teacherId":8702722,"projectId":8707581,"letterContent":"Hinsdale Public Schools wish to thank you for your generous donation to purchase magazines and pillows for our students.
