I am a special education teacher who primarily works with students in kindergarten through 3rd grade. My district is small, rural, and low-income. Having partners like you helps make my job all the more rewarding.\r\n\r\nThe Learning Resource Center is not just a space where students come to receive extra academic help. It is also a spot where students who have \"big feelings,\" emotional outbursts, or just need a break from their general education classroom can come. The staff and I in my room provide compassionate support and calming techniques for students who struggle with emotional regulation. If students are emotionally dysregulated, it is difficult for them to focus on learning. \r\n\r\nThe sensory items we had were old, grungy, and definitely well-used. The sensory tools you provided offer students a range of options for regulating and calming themselves. I purposely chose items that could be squeezed, twisted, watched, or give a soft sensory feeling or sound. This allows the student to focus their energy on the item, enabling them to calm their emotions healthily and efficiently. They can then return to their academic activities ready to learn and grow!","fullyFundedDate":1755717509557,"projectUrl":"project/simple-sensory-soothing/9452965/","projectTitle":"Simple Sensory Soothing","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Helen Miller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10073714"},{"teacherId":10073714,"projectId":9452737,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting and funding my \"Math Mania with Numberblocks\" project. These students struggle with math concepts and may be one or two levels behind their grade level. Many of these students learn best with hands-on, manipulative tools that bring abstract math concepts to life in their minds. The Numberblocks puzzles, games and activities you provided are colorful, exciting and fun - and make connections to learning the students may already be doing at home by watching the Numberblocks shows on Youtube. \r\n\r\nMy students were extremely excited when they saw the new tools!
