These new titles have made a tremendous impact on both the learning environment and my students' engagement with reading.\r\n\r\nSince introducing these books, I've noticed a remarkable shift in my students' reading habits and enthusiasm. The variety allows them to explore genres they may not have encountered before. Mystery novels have sparked curiosity and critical thinking, as students eagerly discuss plot twists and develop their own theories. The young adult selections have offered relatable characters and real-life scenarios that speak directly to their experiences, helping them build empathy and a deeper understanding of themselves and others.\r\n\r\nBooks written in non-prose formats—such as graphic novels, verse novels, and hybrid texts—have been especially transformative for my reluctant and struggling readers. These formats lower the barrier to entry without compromising the complexity or emotional depth of the content. Students who previously avoided reading now come to class excited to share what they've discovered.\r\n\r\nThe impact of this expanded classroom library goes beyond academics. It's building lifelong readers and helping students find their voices. Your support has not only stocked our shelves—it has ignited curiosity, boosted confidence, and fostered a more inclusive and vibrant reading culture.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible. Your investment in literacy is making a lasting difference in the lives of my students.","fullyFundedDate":1743093509348,"projectUrl":"project/non-prose-verse-and-mystery-novels-for/9001047/","projectTitle":"Non-Prose, Verse, and Mystery Novels for Struggling Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Glesk","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9650130_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723499706946","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-glesk"},{"teacherId":9650130,"projectId":8640435,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for providing these fun materials for my kids. One specific project that so plan to do is our \"Creative Journals\" initiative. Each student will receive a journal, and we will use the stickers, colored tape, and folders to personalize them and store them. The students will be encouraged to express their thoughts, ideas, and creativity through writing and art. For example, students can create a detailed story using the stickers to illustrate characters and scenes, while others can use the colored tape to create intricate designs and borders around their journal entries.\r\n\r\nAs for the next steps, we're planning to use the journals for a collaborative storytelling project of with the memoir \"Tuesdays with Morrie\" at the end of the school year. Students will potentially pair up and use their journals to write and illustrate a story together, using the stickers and colored tape to enhance their work. This project will not only foster creativity but also teamwork and communication skills. The folders will be used to organize their completed stories.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your support.
