As student continue to make use of supplies donated, school social worker notes a decrease in anxiety when students share and open up regarding their situation, their emotions, and their thoughts. As students work with their hands, making use of supplies, they are able to more freely open up in sessions. \r\n\r\nStudent were excited to see our new supplies, specifically the \"art therapy\" corner with a selection of markers, and mindfulness coloring books for use when needing to regulate themselves and to help make sessions with school social worker more engaging. \r\nStudent were also especially excited for the sand tray therapy table, allowing student to express themselves and their emotions through play within the sand tray. This type of intervention allows students to \"show\" school social worker instead of simply verbalizing their situation and emotions. \r\n\r\nNext steps include implementation of social emotional learning groups to make use of our new materials, not only on an individual level but through group activities. Students are looking at it to see when things are due, when they have tests, field trips, assemblies, and many other activities and special days.
