It has encouraged literacy for even my most reluctant students. During our academic enrichment time, students are afforded the opportunity for a free choice literacy activity. Students flock to our new listening center to listen to new tales and old favorites.\r\n\r\nWhen I received the materials for our listening center, the students were very excited. The Tonie Box was a familiar item that some students have used at their homes. The familiarity of the Tonie Box combined with new stories had students enthusiastic to practice literacy skills. \r\n\r\nMoving forward students will have the opportunity to listen to more stories. After listening to stories, students will incorporate art and create scenes for the individual Tonie characters that reflect the settings of the stories they are listening to.
