The sole purpose of these books is to allow students to take home books to read with their families that they can independently read and practice the skills being learned at school. This extra practice at home makes a huge difference in students' growth as readers. The books purchased through your grant donation are high interest books that the students enjoy.\r\n With this grant, I was able to purchase 49 sets of six books. The skills included in the books target early reading skills - every short vowel, words with blends (i.e., st and cr) and digraphs (i.e., ch and th) and words with endings (i.e., ed and ing). These skills are the focus in grades K-1 but we have several students in grades 2-3 who are also working on these skills due to English as their second language or reading delays.\r\n All teachers who serve these students are able to check out the books to send home with students in their small reading groups. This includes seven classroom teachers, two ELL teachers, three resource teachers and one reading specialist. Our hope is that every first grader, most kindergartners and all second and third grade students receiving small group reading intervention will be taking books home.\r\n Your gift is far reaching and will be used for years to come to benefit hundreds of students.","fullyFundedDate":1743506579219,"projectUrl":"project/ignite-literacy-decodable-books-for-hom/9219409/","projectTitle":"Ignite Literacy: Decodable Books for Home Reading Practice","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Houfek","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9988251"},{"teacherId":8342652,"projectId":8971078,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for giving to this project!
