Instead of simply hearing sounds, my students are now seeing, touching, and practicing them in meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorite moments happened during a small group phonics lesson using the Elkonin sound boxes and talking mirrors. As students segmented simple CVC words, they used the mirrors to watch how their mouths moved while producing each sound. One of my students, who has struggled with blending sounds, finally is able to read CVC words with minimal support! That moment of connection was powerful and something that wouldn't have happened without these tools.\r\n\r\nThe rolling storage cart has allowed me to organize phonics activities into easy-to-access stations, giving students more independence and structure during rotations. With markers and dry-erase boards, students can practice writing and mapping sounds repeatedly, building confidence without the fear of making mistakes. The headphones have also made a huge difference during independent practice, allowing students to fully focus on listening activities and phonics games without distractions.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate. They were eager to explore, especially the mirrors and colorful supplies. What might seem like simple tools quickly became something special.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are continuing to build on these foundational skills by moving into more complex phonics patterns and early reading. Students will use these same tools to work on blending, segmenting, and eventually decoding simple texts with greater independence. My goal is for every student to not only improve their reading skills but to feel confident and proud as they do it.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students are not just learning phonics—they are experiencing success, building confidence, and beginning to see themselves as readers.","fullyFundedDate":1764598034833,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-phonics/9926277/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Phonics","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cuellar","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6640494_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1722106538630","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6640494"},{"teacherId":6123924,"projectId":9969322,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donations! They got to see the process from caterpillar to butterfly and enjoyed every minute of it. The magnets were also a cool experience for them. When we did our unit on magnets, the ones that came in were an addition that reinforced their learning. We are currently working on life cycles for plants and the kids are wowed by the Sprout & Grow window kit. Many of my students benefit from hands-on and visual learning materials, and being able to quickly print and create durable resources allows me to provide them with exactly what they need to succeed.\r\n\r\nTechnology in our classroom doesn't always look like a tablet or laptop. Sometimes it's the tools that help teachers create meaningful learning materials. With the printer, I can design and print differentiated activities, visual supports, communication boards, and adapted worksheets that meet each student at their individual learning level. The cardstock has been especially helpful because it makes these materials stronger and longer lasting. Many of our resources are used daily for reading practice, math centers, behavior supports, and communication activities.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for my students is the colorful, interactive materials we are now able to use. Instead of working only on paper that gets torn or worn out quickly, students can use sturdy task cards, matching games, and visual schedules that help them stay engaged and independent. These materials make learning feel more like a game, which increases motivation and participation. The NEX playground sytem has also helped our school on days when we cannot go outside for recess due to inclement weather as we can use it to keep thw students entertained and getting physical activity even when indoors.\r\n\r\nAgain we here at Hendricks Elementary Thank you all for helping make an impact on the students both physically and mentally!","fullyFundedDate":1768229944805,"projectUrl":"project/jump-play-thrive-with-nex/9987029/","projectTitle":"“Jump, Play, Thrive with NEX”","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Diaz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10398154_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1768007298907","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10398154"},{"teacherId":6531791,"projectId":9636666,"letterContent":"I am writing to sincerely thank you for your generous support in providing Snap Circuits and circuit materials for our classroom. Your donation has made a tremendous impact on my students and their learning experience.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students have been able to engage in meaningful, hands-on learning that brings science to life. They absolutely love experimenting with the materials and discovering which items are conductors and which are insulators. Watching their excitement as they test different objects and predict outcomes has been incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nThrough these activities, students have developed a strong understanding of the key parts of a circuit, including the power source, switch, pathway, light bulb, and insulator. Rather than simply reading about these concepts, they are building them, testing them, and seeing them in action. This hands-on experience has deepened their comprehension and strengthened their confidence in science.\r\n\r\nThe Snap Circuits have been especially impactful. Students love putting the pieces together and following step-by-step instructions to create working circuits. They are able to clearly see how energy flows through a system, which has made abstract concepts much easier to understand. In addition, assembling the circuits has strengthened their problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and ability to carefully follow directions.\r\n\r\nYour donation has benefited all of my students, including those who thrive with hands-on learning opportunities. Students who sometimes struggle with traditional instruction have truly shined during these activities. They have demonstrated curiosity, perseverance, and excitement for learning in ways that are inspiring to see.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in our classroom and in the education of my students. Your support has sparked curiosity, encouraged exploration, and made learning both engaging and memorable.
