While the finished kites were exciting, the real magic was in the process, children and their loved ones working together, making choices, being creative, and creating something they could be proud of.\r\n\r\nFamily involvement is such an important part of early childhood education. When families are invited to participate in their child's learning, children see that the people they love value their education and the things they are learning at school. An activity as simple as making a kite can create meaningful conversations, build fine motor skills, encourage creativity, and create memories that children will carry with them.\r\n\r\nI loved being able to provide my students with an experience they could share with the people who matter most to them. Their kites became more than just a classroom project, they became something their families created together.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us make learning a family affair and for giving my students the opportunity to learn, create, and make memories with the people they love!","fullyFundedDate":1775681058591,"projectUrl":"project/lets-soar-together-family-kite-day/10113186/","projectTitle":"Let’s Soar Together: Family Kite Day","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Katelyn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8620247_orig.jpg?crop=2458,2458,x2110,y77&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1781390352994","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8620247"},{"teacherId":8620247,"projectId":10005631,"letterContent":"This project is especially meaningful to me because it started with a simple conversation between teachers.\r\n\r\nA co-teacher shared with me how difficult it was to find Spanish books for her classroom. I knew that her students deserved the same access to fun, engaging books as every other child, so I decided to create this project specifically for her classroom.\r\n\r\nThanks to the generosity of our donors, her students now have a full collection of new and exciting Spanish books that they can enjoy in the classroom and take home to read with their families.\r\n\r\nWhat makes this project so special is that these books don't stop at the classroom door. They are creating opportunities for children to sit with their parents, siblings, and loved ones and share a story together in their home language. For some families, this may be a simple bedtime story; for others, it may be a chance to build vocabulary, strengthen language skills, and create special memories around books.\r\n\r\nAs teachers, we often see the impact of classroom resources during the school day, but this project has the potential to reach families long after the school day is over.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping me turn one teacher's need into an opportunity for an entire classroom and their families. It will give us a dedicated place to proudly display student work, artwork, and achievements. For young learners, seeing their work showcased is incredibly powerful. It builds confidence, encourages effort, and helps students feel valued for who they are and what they can accomplish.\r\nIn our classroom, we believe that every child deserves to feel proud of their learning journey. This display space will allow each student to have a moment to shine.
