My students learned the importance of following step-by-step directions in order to get their microbit to perform and to learn from their mistakes. \r\n\r\nStudents were most excited about what the microbit could do if they knew how to code it correctly. My students were able to use the microbits to create their own personal name badge, a beating heart, and much more! The last microbit lesson called for them to create a game of rock-paper-scissors. This culminated with a rock-paper-scissors competition.\r\n\r\nOne of my autistic students had some experience with coding. He was excited to be able to use the microbit since he hadn't used one before. He confidently and excitedly helped other students who were struggling with some of the coding techniques. \r\n\r\nCoding can be intimidating to students. The biggest item that has had the most impact on my students has been the handheld whiteboards with erasers and markers. In math class specifically I have noticed more engagement since using the whiteboards. Also with having the whiteboards it has been easier for me to academic monitor students and fix simple mistakes and catch when students are not participating. \r\n\r\nThe second item that has had the most impact is the colored pencils and markers. The students were super excited to see the new materials. The first thing they asked was if we could do a coloring project to make a new centerpiece for our community building circle. The PEMDAS sign has also been great help in class as it is easy for me to point to and refer to when guiding students to complete math problems. \r\n\r\nAgain thank you so much for choosing my classroom to donate to. My student and myself have greatly benefited from it and appreciate it.
