Having resources that stretch across grade levels means every student can find a challenge that feels just right.\r\nMy students love having so many math play options to choose from, and the books have sparked a lot of excitement and curiosity in our teachers. A:\r\nWe've only had about 15 days of class so far, with two math review Fridays, and already my students and I have shared so much fun and learning. Every Friday, we gather to review math through games. I take familiar games and give them a math \"twist,\" which makes practicing skills exciting and joyful. These Fridays are quickly becoming something we all look forward to, and they've been such a wonderful way to build our classroom community as we learn together.\r\nQ:How did your students react when they first saw the materials?\r\nA:They were absolutely thrilled! From the first review Friday, they jumped right in and had the best time. The materials make math feel playful and inviting, and my students are motivated to do well because they're laughing, smiling, and learning all at once.\r\nQ:What are the next steps for your students on a current classroom lesson or project?\r\nA:So far, we've explored vocabulary, exponents, powers of 10, and multiplication. Next, we'll be applying these skills in open-ended problem solving and collaborative projects. My students can't wait to take what they've practiced in our games and use it in bigger challenges. Unlike traditional reading methods that can overwhelm students with decoding challenges, these devices allow students to experience rich, complex stories while simultaneously following along with physical books. The technology removes barriers by providing clear, engaging narration that matches students' cognitive abilities while supporting their developing reading skills. Students can control the pace, replay sections, and engage with content independently—skills that transfer to all areas of learning.\r\n\r\nThe independence is what truly captivates our students. For many of them, this is the first time they can \"read\" a book entirely on their own without waiting for adult assistance. The physical cards that control the audio content give them tangible ownership over their learning experience. Students light up when they can choose their own adventure, insert a story card, and immediately dive into narratives that match their interests and cognitive level. The excitement of being able to share stories with peers and family members at home has been incredible to witness.\r\n\r\nOne of my students, who previously struggled with reading stamina, now will sit with a book for at least 30 minutes. During free choice play he is choosing to use the Yoto player and read a book instead! Another student was very hesitant to read books with other people nearby as he has a speech disability that has affected his decoding skills. The books that he can read are well below his age level and interest. He has now discovered he can follow informational cards about monkeys which are his favorite subject. These students aren't just consuming content—they're developing genuine literary preferences and critical thinking skills.\r\n\r\nThank you to all our donors for believing in our extraordinary learners and providing the tools they needed to unlock their full potential.","fullyFundedDate":1746468517890,"projectUrl":"project/unlocking-literacy-empowering-minds-bey/9214877/","projectTitle":"Unlocking Literacy: Empowering Minds Beyond Limitations","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Brown","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8608183_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1743087616449","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8608183"},{"teacherId":1637315,"projectId":9113065,"letterContent":"This project has been such a gift, not just for my 5th graders but for our entire school.
