They were all excited to learn how to sew using a machine. The day I had the 2 machines set up and ready for them was electric. It was SO HARD for them to wait for their turn. \r\n\r\nOur first project was a small bag requiring simple straight stitching across the ends (creating a casing for the cord closure) and down the sides. They first learned how to lay out the fabric and pin the pattern along the grain line, then cut. They used an iron to press the hem before sewing, so that no pins were necessary. Top stitching sealed the sides which were then frayed to add a creative touch. One boy began a second bag as soon as he completed the first.\r\n\r\nAll are thrilled with their bags and eager to begin the next project. Most have gained confidence in using the machine without me hovering. The machines have five different feet and multiple stitch options. I'm looking forward to using them all. They came with spools of thread and prefilled bobbins, too!
