In English Language Arts, we will use books, internet, guest speakers and I will attend two workshops on the subject of Holocaust in North Carolina to help me learn what and how to teach the subject of Holocaust.\r\n\r\nThe students were curious when they first saw the books, especially the one about the 6,000,000 paper clips. \r\n\r\nFirst we are introducing the topic of Holocaust with a guest speaker of the Jewish culture and virtual guest speak of a survivor's child. We will then read a short passage to learn how World War II had a part in the events that happened to the Jews and other people. Sometimes students are just hungry and in need of a snack before going home. We are grateful to be able to provide a snack for the students. We informed the male students how to properly take care of their hygiene and gave them some supplies to do so. That's where each of you, generous donors, came into the picture. You gave generously, thus giving young males after playing lacrosse or football to freshen up afterwards. Also, students who may not have supplies at home now have them at school. The sixth grade males seemed to really appreciate the supplies which included deodorant, toothpaste, a toothbrush, lotion, chap stick and a few other needed supplies. My special education students have loved having access to the noise cancelling headphones. Some of my students are negatively affected by loud noises and instead of them covering their ears with their hands they have the noise cancelling headphones. The headphones helped my students in their learning environment by giving them a quite environment to focus. The materials will the students succeed in the area of focus and organization. The colorful printer paper will help high risk students focus and be more engaged with the text. The folders have helped us get organized. Each student has their own home/school folder for vocabulary and word study assignments. \r\n\r\nThe snacks have help deceased those nasty hunger pains at the end of the day. \r\n\r\nThe journals will be used during our poetry unit. Students will be able to take the journals wherever to record what they observe then wrote poetry using the observations as inspiration.
