They had never before heard the unique sound of the metallophone, as our other bar instruments are all wooden bar xylophones. They use the bar instruments each time they are practicing beat or rhythms, and when they are improvising phrases to learn how to create music. \r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the metallophone, they were in awe! Our other instruments have wooden bars, and look and sound very different. When I first tapped the metal bars to demonstrate the sound, there were several audible gasps as they heard the sound ring and continue to ring. They love to hear the sound of the metal bars, and the combination of these sounds with the other bar instruments. \r\n\r\nThe students will continue to use the metallophone with other bar instruments as they learn to perform and create music. As the year comes to a close, all of the younger grades will spend quite a lot of time with the bar instruments, learning to take care of them, to follow directions, and to perform and create rhythms and melodies.","fullyFundedDate":1752586532009,"projectUrl":"project/alto-metallophone-for-our-music-program/9192674/","projectTitle":"Alto Metallophone for Our Music Program","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Mitchell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8891136"},{"teacherId":5401355,"projectId":9117199,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting my classroom with supplying reading books. these books have helped break downand teach phonemically. the students love the books as they are colorful and the stories are engaging.\r\nThe workbook that came with the books also helps the students practice the skills they have learned and that transfers into increasing their fluency.\r\nI teach small reading groups of students who struggle in fluency and learning phonemic awareness.
