While many people are familiar with iPads in everyday life, their role in a school counseling setting is unique and incredibly impactful. In my office, the iPad is used to support students through calming apps, interactive SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) tools, visual schedules, feelings check-ins, and therapeutic games. These tools help students learn how to recognize and manage their emotions, solve conflicts, practice mindfulness, and build confidence in a fun and engaging way.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting features for my students is the variety of ways they can express themselves using technology. Some students love using the iPad to draw how they're feeling, while others use breathing animations or guided meditation apps to calm down after a tough moment. It offers a choice-based approach that empowers students to find strategies that work for them. The interactive visuals have been especially helpful for my younger learners and those with limited verbal skills, as they're able to better communicate how they're feeling using emotion icons and tools like digital mood check-ins.\r\n\r\nThere are already a few students who have truly embraced this new technology. One second grader who often has trouble transitioning to the counseling office now lights up when he gets to use the iPad to complete a \"calm-down journey\" or draw how his day is going. Another fourth grader, who struggles with anxiety, has started requesting the iPad to practice breathing techniques before tests or presentations.\r\n\r\nI can't thank you enough for your support. This iPad is making a daily difference in the lives of students who need a safe place to process, reset, and grow.","fullyFundedDate":1750253173138,"projectUrl":"project/interactive-ipad-tools-for-student-suppp/9303104/","projectTitle":"Interactive iPad Tools for Student Suppport","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. M","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9745367_orig.jpg?crop=2000,2000,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726159607532","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9745367"},{"teacherId":9745367,"projectId":8973804,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your thoughtful and generous donation! With your support, I was able to purchase essential resources like Play-Doh, facial tissues, Clorox wipes, and fruit snacks—all of which play a key role in helping my students feel comfortable, supported, and engaged during their time with me.\r\n\r\nThe Play-Doh has been a huge hit with my students. I've been using it as a tool to help them express their emotions and manage stress during individual or group counseling sessions. It's amazing to see how something so simple can foster creativity and relaxation while opening up meaningful conversations about feelings. The facial tissues and Clorox wipes are equally vital in keeping our shared spaces clean and safe, especially during cold and flu season, ensuring students can focus on learning and growth. And, of course, the fruit snacks have been a wonderful way to offer a little encouragement to students who might need an extra boost during their day.\r\n\r\nThese resources may seem small, but they make a big difference in creating a space where students feel seen, valued, and ready to thrive. When the materials arrived, students visiting my office were filled with excitement and curiosity. The snacks have been a particular blessing for students who often face food insecurity.\r\n\r\nThese resources have already made a difference in my one-on-one sessions and small group activities. The fidget tools and calming items are helping students manage their emotions during tough moments, while the art supplies are giving them new ways to express their thoughts and feelings. One student, who often struggles to open up, used the materials to create a drawing that helped them share something deeply personal. Moments like this remind me how vital these tools are to my work.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, I'm better equipped to meet the diverse needs of my students, creating a space where they feel safe, seen, and valued.
