They have enjoyed it so much that I have a few reading ahead of the expectation. We have class discussions on the characters and the future world they are living on. Students will come to ask questions on what they are curious on and even to make funny remarks on sections that are hilarious. I have days in which they silent read, others in which students volunteer to read out loud.\r\nStudents did discussion questions in which they are being presented with allusion, symbolism, external and internal conflicts, direct and indirect characteristics and skills they get to reinforce. They also got to show their understanding on specific chapters and important details on a quiz. The quiz also contained a question in which they would write negative and positive consequences on using VR so far, mentioned by the main character. They will eventually, at the end of the unit, write an essay on whether VR is beneficial or negative for our society. They will use the novel and articles I have provided about both stances. \r\n\r\nI can't thank you enough because you made possible being able to see sophomores getting engaged and enjoying reading. It is not an easy task to motivate teenagers into reading without complaining and this time it has been successful. I have students that already had the book or had read it on their free will. I even have students from my regular classes that asked if they could do what my Honors are doing just because they loved the book. The outcome has been amazing and it is all because of your help.","fullyFundedDate":1747961166105,"projectUrl":"project/dystopian-society-to-reality/9371376/","projectTitle":"Dystopian Society to Reality","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Perez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10041021"},{"teacherId":10008701,"projectId":9308467,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for providing my class with a full set of Ender's Game. My Honors English students are really enjoying the novel, and it has been a valuable tool for teaching important skills like analyzing plot, tracking character development, and engaging in thoughtful discussion. In our classroom, we dedicate specific days to reading, discussion, and even exploring related texts—for example, I paired Ender's Game with readings about the atomic bomb to introduce conversations about real-world ethical dilemmas. The book has been especially popular with my boys, which is such a wonderful plus, and overall it has been an excellent extension for my honors curriculum. Students are exploring diverse experiences—many for the first time—through literature that fosters empathy, curiosity, and critical thinking. These books have sparked meaningful discussions, broadened worldviews, and helped our students make powerful connections beyond their everyday environment.\r\n\r\nYour gift is not just a donation of books—it's an investment in building compassionate, informed, and culturally aware young minds.
